Hoops Spring Break Schedule
Beilein has talked about how the Big Ten didn't do us any favors by scheduling our first games against OSU, IU, MSU, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin on the road (seriously...ALL of them??). But one thing I noticed looking over the schedule yesterday was that our two biggest home games of the season are going to occur during Spring Break, which is officially Saturday, March 2nd - Monday, March 11th. We play vs. MSU on the first weekend and vs. IU during the second weekend, with @ Purdue during the week.
When I was in the Maize Rage the break tickets weren't included in the ticket package. IIRC, the home game vs. MSU was during Spring Break twice and the crowd was a combination of the "Blue Rage" and those students who bought the game a la carte. I personally believe that Home Court advantage means more in NCAA hoops than any other sport, and the students are the biggest reason for that.
Any current Maize Rage members -- do you have tickets to those games? Are you planning on attending? If not, can I buy your ticket for cheap? (jk, sort of)
I realize we have to play some games over break, but can't the Big Ten make an effort to schedule a game against a rival when the students will be on campus...geez.

If anything, it will just keep the MSU students out of our section since the only people who have tickets are for sure going, so I'm cool with that.

Since the Maize Rage is >1,000 these days, missing 25% still leaves a good sized crowd who are hypothetically very into the game. My maize rage was ~400 students* so the student section was embarassing during the break games.
*I think I literally got paid to go to games in 08-09 between pregame pizza parties and swag incentives for attendance.

But I bet we can easily fill the 500-600 students in the bleachers, who produce 95% of the noise anyway. It's really a shame that the students are finally showing up but the layout of where they sit keeps things from getting too rowdy. Indiana's Crimson Guard made me real jealous yesterday.

08-09 was actually a Beilein season. Novak-Douglass' freshman year where Manny led us to the tournament berth. Awesome season to have tickets for. The athletic department did a great job of giving students incentives to get there early, and the basketball team made sure we stayed.

We still get some free stuff, I walked out of the Purdue game with a foam finger, blue light up goggles, a team poster, some Hawaiian maize and blue necklaces, got 50% off concessions and a bunch of people got a Josh Bartelstein poster.
