Well, that was quick. A 2-1 loss Friday night. Shit happens I guess, but that's kind of a buzz-kill to start the weekend. John Saunders is going to be on cloud nine this weekend.

crappy crappy game. probably didnt have more than 2 good scoring opportunities after our only goal. completely dominated play in the first but couldnt put one in. and western put in both goals in the 3rd. billy still played alright, offense was...terrible

Western really brought their A game. They shut us down completely in front of the net. What I don't get is why are wingers are so bad at getting to the net on 2 on 1s and 2 on 2s. So many times we had pucks fly across the crease but the winger was behind the goal or still at the blue line. People are not on the same page and it's really frustrating watching the offense play.
The goals Sauer gave up were understandable. That was a hell of a shot for Western's second goal. You have to give them credit, they really played well and their goalie was on top of things for the most part.
I do think we'll win tomorrow, but splitting these easy weekend series is going to bite us in the ass. With our top 2 defensemen out, this is turning into one hell of a rebuilding year. Damn the angry michigan defenseman hating god!
Oh, I should also note that the officiating was horrible. Western committed so many interference penalties that for a minute I thought Brian Rafalski was playing for them. Hooking and slashing were also weapons of choice for Western. You can't blame this game on officiating, but it sure as hell didn't help.

western did a good job not letting the O get setup a lot of times and when we did get the puck across the crease no one was there.
i did get some satisfaction though from western's horrific power play. they had 4 power plays last night but got 1 shot off. total. we had 3. that is terrible

Well, at least the hockey team responded with a shutout of the Broncos (5-0) in K-zoo last night. Hogan is now off to a 6-0 start.
