Ricky Powers is one of those "forgotten stars" of Wolverine history.  He was right in the middle of an incredible run of backfield talent that characterized the end of Bo's tenure and carried on through Mo's:

Tony Boles - absolutely dynamite, game-breaker type until he blew out his knee (would have to think with today's medical technology we'd be talking about him as an all-timer)

Leroy Hoard - huge heart, found ways to make plays (lit up the Rose Bowl!)

Jarrod Bunch - first round draft pick as a fullback

Jon Vaughn - another lightning-in-a-bottle runner who ripped it up in the 1990 season before going pro early

Ricky Powers - had that monster sophomore year (1200 yards, 5ypc) before slowing way down.  In part because of...

Tyrone Wheatley - if you need me to explain this one to you, turn in your Wolverine Fan card

Tshimanga Biakabutuka - see comment on Tyrone Wheatley

Bunch of other guys in there who could play too.  But that was a killer run of talent that surrounded the Powers years.
