Best part is his absolutely destroying the idea that Stalions had anything to do with any of UM's winning.
January 4th, 2024 at 7:49 PM ^
Klatt blew it off on his podcast today, too. It's pretty much just the buckeyes still beating that drum.
January 4th, 2024 at 7:52 PM ^
Have you seen RCMB? lol They have a nearly 1300 page thread that is almost always at the top of the page.
January 4th, 2024 at 8:04 PM ^
Fair enough. I live down here in Ohio and don't deal with many MSU fans, so I forget they exist at times.
January 4th, 2024 at 8:06 PM ^
There are over 2 million views on that thread. I only counted for a couple… They are so butthurt and jealous. It’s hilarious.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:21 PM ^
Green with envy?
January 4th, 2024 at 8:42 PM ^
Thank your lucky stars, they are so obnoxious
January 4th, 2024 at 9:04 PM ^
Are you saying thank your lucky stars for living in Ohio? I can honestly say I’ve never heard anybody say that before.
January 4th, 2024 at 11:54 PM ^
The roads are good.

Had to explain what I just read….apparently when you made me laugh, I laughed rather loudly….

Funny personal story about MSU:
I grew up a Michigan fan in Ohio. I got all kinds of shit for that growing up- everything you would expect and then some but I didn't care.
When I was 24 I moved to Michigan. Got engaged and my future in-laws were all MSU alumni/rabid fans.
And...with my being from Ohio, and growing up just before the internet was in every home, I honestly had absolutely no idea how badly MSU wanted to be UM's rival.
For a few years, whenever it came up that I was a Michigan fan, my in-laws were (surprisingly to me) genuinely offended that I didn't know anything more about UM vs MSU than I knew about UM vs any other B1G school.
They just could not understand how Michigan/MSU games weren't on my big-game radar...they couldn't fathom that outside of the state of Michigan, MSU didn't really register enough with most people...like they were invisible.
It was hilariously similar to the way Lego Joker was so hurt by Lego Batman for hating Lego Superman more.
I've always chuckled at that looking back on my childhood and my experience moving to Michigan- it shows how I had absolutely no bias in my mind about it. MSU genuinely wasn't a big deal because they simply didn't matter enough outside the state for a kid from Ohio to know how they felt about Michigan.
January 4th, 2024 at 8:47 PM ^
I had a similar experience, grew up in Ohio and just assumed that MSU was cool because hey, also Michigan right? Moved to Michigan after high school and learned THAT lesson the hard way.
The Lego Batman and Joker comparison is exactly correct.

Grew up out of state, barely aware of college ball, only watched the NFL. I was aware of OSU-Michigan. I was barely aware Michigan State was a school. Wasn't until I got to campus that I learned people at Michigan even cared about MSU.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:23 PM ^
They are barely aware of it also.
January 5th, 2024 at 2:51 AM ^
"I was barely aware Michigan State was a school."
I grew up in north eastern Michigan, went to HS a few miles east of MSU and went to Ann Arbor for my advanced knowledge of the world. I think your statement is universally true. MSU barely is school. It's more cult.
January 4th, 2024 at 10:07 PM ^
I get the sentiment but MSU IS a rival. Hard stop. I also was out of state and knew a ton more about OSU and ND history vs Michigan but also knew about MSU and Minnesota a little as far as rivalry.
That said, when I went to UM I grew to absolutely HATE MSU fans so much more than OSU because of how petulant they were (c/o 2012 so that period certainly didn't help matters)
January 4th, 2024 at 10:12 PM ^
It's a regional rivalry. No one cares about it outside the state. That's the point.
January 4th, 2024 at 10:17 PM ^
Exactly.
January 4th, 2024 at 10:53 PM ^
That used to be the case, but I don’t think it really is anymore. Michigan State is a complete dumpster fire now, but for a period of time M v MSU was absolutely on the national radar. I think M/MSU was the second or thirds most watched regular season game nationally in 2021. I think it got more viewers than the Iron Bowl.
January 4th, 2024 at 11:11 PM ^
2021 both teams were highly ranked and Michigan is always going to bring eyeballs to a game.
If you ask people outside the state to rank college football rivalries, it would be quite awhile before they got to UM-MSU.
January 5th, 2024 at 8:48 AM ^
Trust me it's still the case and that's why it kills them. I live in northern Ohio so I'm surrounded by buckeye fans, some hard core, some marginal. My wife's BF is a marginal and knows I went to Michigan. For a while every time MSU won something she'd text my wife "tell Don congrats on the big win". I kept telling her I didnt go there, I went to University of Michigan and her general response was "oh, I keep forgetting there's another big college up there."
Nobody gives two shits about MSU anywhere else but Michigan. Travel anywhere in the US or the world and you'll run into a lot of random M gear. But you never, EVER see anything from State.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:08 AM ^
I was having a conversation at a party a few years ago in East Lansing at a retired MSU professor's home when someone commented about the large influx of Chinese students at MSU in the past few years. Another person said "It's really hard for them to get in the top schools at home,so they come here then go back home after graduation and tell everyone they went to Michigan. That works because no one has heard of MSU outside East Lansing and Lakeview"
January 4th, 2024 at 10:16 PM ^
I wasn’t describing any kind of sentiment- I was describing my actual, personal, unbiased experience. If anyone played a biased role in my experience, ironically, it was MSU fans.
January 4th, 2024 at 10:27 PM ^
Lego Batman is my favorite of all Batman movies. Maybe even all movies.
January 4th, 2024 at 11:31 PM ^
It is outstanding. For anyone that hasn't seen it, probably worth a Google :)
January 4th, 2024 at 10:42 PM ^
Haha very similar. Grew up in Ohio, born in the mid 80s. All I knew was fuck Ohio State. Traveled a little bit when I became an adult and could afford things and had some guy see me shirt and say Go Green! I proceeded to say who in the hell are you rooting for when you say that? He was so offended 1) I didn’t know that was a Michigan State thing, and 2) that I couldn’t care less about that school. Go Blue, fuck Ohio State… all that mattered
January 5th, 2024 at 8:46 AM ^
I grew up in Flint, about equal distance from each campus. We're still probably about 65-35 UM in Flint I would say, given the presence of our UM Flint campus. But growing up, to me it was the bigger rivalry. I didn't know all about the Ohio State rivalry until I was older. Very weird.
January 5th, 2024 at 5:57 PM ^
I grew up in Los Angeles during the Cooper OSU years and I considered ND our main rival as they far too often ruined our season in week 1!
January 4th, 2024 at 9:05 PM ^
I had to Google what RCMB was. The level of delusion is off the charts. I have never seen anything like it. Besides how fever brained the posts are, I think the most amusing part is how much they care about Michigan and little the average Michigan fan cares about MSU. They are like the fourth most important rivalry behind OSU, PSU, and Notre Dame.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:54 PM ^
Minnesota should be on that list too. To my knowledge the little brown jug is the only trophy in college football with an organic history. The rest are just oversized paperweights.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:10 AM ^
Exhibit A
January 5th, 2024 at 9:23 AM ^
Fourth is a stretch. It’s important to beat Sparty down, yearly, just to throw a wet blanket over their insecure strut. When Sparty has success, Sparty is obnoxious. Buckeyes No 1 (obviously), ND No 2 (good to quiet that inexplicable superior attitude down), Sparty No 3 (to maintain order).
While it’s important to beat PSU, have never considered them a “rival,” they’re more like Wisconsin or Nebraska - take care of business.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:11 PM ^
Awesome! It's glorious to revel in their misery.
January 4th, 2024 at 11:30 PM ^
Dude yes, RCMB is bad!! It’s astonishing. That fanbase is so delusional , it’s a bit scary.
Harbaugh over here snatching other programs souls. It’s glorious
cherish ever second of it

There was a time, many years ago, when Michigan State was considered a more serious rivalry by students and alums than it's been lately. This was before Bo Schembechler. I was around then.
I started Michigan not that long after MSU won the national championship two years in a row. During the mid to late '60s, MSU was a powerhouse. Michigan was not playing on their level, but the MSU rivalry was taken seriously. Michigan fans would say 'we're an academic school, not a 'football factory'. Shoulders would be shrugged.
Beating MSU was a big deal. The script flipped when Bo came. During the Bo v Woody years, it became the Big Two and the Little Eight, and beating MSU or any of the Little Eight was not that big a deal.
The legacy of that era is still with us in terms of how we view the rivalry. MSU, of course, views it differently. But the Ten Year War was the era when the OSU game became THE game every year. It was certainly a big game before then, but not that much more than MSU, or even Minnesota.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:31 AM ^
Nobody outside East Lansing claims they won the title in 66. If we counted every poll like they do at MSU, Bump won the title in '64, and Bo won three in '73, '76 and '84.
January 4th, 2024 at 8:04 PM ^
Wow. I can only imagine how livid those drum beating Ohio fans must have been when Ohio retained a coach who covered up domestic violence allegations…

And r/cfb. I occasionally go through posts when I need a laugh.
January 4th, 2024 at 8:17 PM ^
There was an amusing thread over on 11W earlier today proclaiming Washington the national champions, saying that even if Michigan were to somehow win, the title would be vacated by the NCAA. I don't see it there now, so maybe their mods realized just how stupid it was and deleted it.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:08 PM ^
Vacating wins has been used exclusively for playing ineligible players. There would be no precedent in NCAA history for vacating wins over a rule that has been enforced exactly once with Baylor assistant who got a half game suspension.
January 4th, 2024 at 11:11 PM ^
Head to the south. SEC hacks genuinely believe Connor Stalions is the only reason Michigan is good. I loved knocking my Alabama fan boy CEO around getting him to admit that the time to observe a sign, understand it, decide on an adjustment, communicate it to your captain, and have the captain communicate to the team, is just not possible in the timeframe of an average play.

I hate the fact that I'm starting to like Cowherd.
January 5th, 2024 at 8:35 AM ^
cowherd shit all over Harbaugh for years...... not sure when it changed, but he's never been a fan of JH, suddenly he loves and respects him. I think this guy should be a politician
January 5th, 2024 at 9:01 AM ^
Colin had a bad interview with Harbaugh before he joined FOX in around 2014. Has been the biggest Harbaugh supporter of anyone in media since. Was more supportive of Harbaugh than 90% of Michigan fans from 2015-2020. Nothing has changed with him toward Harbaugh. A lot has changed among fans toward Harbaugh since then.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:17 AM ^
I thank God every day that I'm a UM fan and no other school, especially Bucknuts and Sharty.
January 4th, 2024 at 7:55 PM ^
I saw this earlier today and what infuriates me is that all of these guys could have destroyed the cheating narrative long ago but didn't. They all know it's a hit on Harbaugh and Michigan by a disgruntled low T OSU coach.
January 4th, 2024 at 8:26 PM ^
To be fair, if I recall correctly I believe Cowherd has bashed this story since the beginning.
January 4th, 2024 at 8:27 PM ^
Cowherd and Klatt have always been fair through the whole thing.
January 4th, 2024 at 10:09 PM ^
Klatt toes party line a little but otherwise I agree. Very weird that I found myself enjoying Cowherd's takes during this saga though
January 5th, 2024 at 12:35 AM ^
I mean, Klatt's being evenhanded. But what I appreciated from him was when he said "Jim Harbaugh has never lied to me. So if he says he didn't know, he didn't know."
