Hemingway coming out party?

Submitted by lunchboxthegoat on
To follow in the spirit of the rest of the board tonight being reactionary and knee jerk, I ask: Did we just witness Junior Hemingway's coming out party? Great stat line, impressive performance (albeit against a not very good opponent), Is this an indicator of what he's likely to do now that he's healthy and has earned an opportunity?

I didn't see anything happen at all to him and I was there. If he got hurt BADLY, the stadium would know. If he just got kinda hurt (a la Mark Moundros, hope he's ok), I think it could have sneaked past us. Anyways, onto JrH. I thought the same thing when I saw him playing early in the 1st quarter. I told a friend that this was "Junior Hemingway's Year", which my friend scoffed at me for, but then witnessed that beautiful catch/tackle-break/pylon-crushage. Needless to say, his performance for the rest of the game was great and I can't wait to see him do just as well in games to come.

Thanks for that. I was kind of freaked he was going to be out yet again. It seemed like he was on a similar path last year before his injury. Only caught the first half bc/ of a stupid obligation, but it seemed like he was the one guy getting behind the coverage (no?). That's what leads me to think maybe their secondary ain't so terrible, just that Hemingway is kinda wonderful. Bring on ND!!

Last year he probably would have been that deep threat that we so desperately needed (that's not to say that we would have had a QB who was actually capable of throwing it to him consistantly). Give the guy some time and I think he could be really good. If we use the slot recievers correctly, and Minor is a real backfield threat I think it could really open up a world of possibilities for the guy.

Considering he had more receiving yards yesterday than the team had total passing yards in five games last year (and coming close to beating out 2 others), I'd say it was a coming out party, for sure. And not having him last year after the first game was a huge loss given his play threat and the fact he's the best WR blocker on the team. In two career games as a featured, starting WR, Hemingway has 3 TDs passes, two of which were deep throws where got behind the corner. Great stuff. Looks to have great hands and great chemistry with Forcier. He and our QBs have three seasons with one another.

I told a friend of mine he is the next number one as long as RR isn't scared to give it out. He is going to blow up this year and next year. Senior year the jersey number will make its return!
