Hello: Tera Blanco (sb)

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

The second of four softball recruits for this class is Tera Blanco.  Tera hails from Huntington Beach California where her high school, Marina, competes in the Sunset Conference in Orange County.  She is a pitcher, and a damed good one at that.

She is rated the #1 overall pitcher in California by several softball recruiting services. Blanco pitched 29 games and compiled a record of 25-4. She faced 716 batters in 190 innings, allowed 31 runs, 19 of which were earned, issued 35 walks and struck out 229.  Her earned-run average was 0.70.

Coach Hutch seems to be going after pitchers that can hit, ala, Sara Driesenga.  Offensively, Blanco hit .420 and had five home runs and 20 RBIs. She held .654 slugging and .550 on-base percentages.

She led her summer team, The Firecrackers, to the 16U National title a year ago.  Her father, Jeff, is a huge Michigan fan and encouraged Tera to come to Michigan.  Her official visit was a balmy 12F and Jeff worried that the cold weather would discourage Tera from coming here.  The cold weather did not influence her decision and her father was thankful.

Welcome to the family Tera.  We hope your softball career is successful.  But more importantly, we hope your studies are even more successful.  Thanks for choosing us and we look forward to seeing you next fall in Traverse City.
