Hello: PWO RB/S Leon Franklin

Submitted by Magnus on February 4th, 2019 at 7:26 PM

Southfield (MI) A&T running back/safety Leon Franklin committed to Michigan as a preferred walk-on. He's listed at 5'10" and 185 lbs. on his Hudl page, along with having an 11.0 in the 100 meters and a 4.59 forty. Here's a link to his highlights (LINK).

Michigan has offered a couple of his 2020 teammates in QB Anthony Romphf and DT Bryce Austin over the past few weeks, so this may help a little bit if Michigan really wants those guys in next year's class.

Not necessarily, but if you look at positional breakdowns, some will happen. Some guys like DPJ, Ambry, and possibly Cesar will have NFL decisions to make.

There are a lot of very low floor, incredibly high ceiling guys in the 2018 class. Guys like Welschoff, Upshaw, Joe Milton, and Michael Barrett. Guys could go either way. By the way, not saying any of them will or won't leave, just saying guys like that either make their move after year 2 or stay buried on the depth chart.

Quite a few upper classmen at DB and OL, so naturally some will leave.

We probably will lose a scholarship player on special teams, and leave way for a couple injuries, grades, performance, dog house types, and I'd bet Michigan looks for 20-22 in 2020

Thanks for the exhaustive list of wannabe's.  Pretty interesting that so many non-scholarship athletes can be attracted.  Must be a story there somewhere.  No doubt there will be a few who will play extensively and earn scholarships along the way.

Looks like Harbaugh is still collecting QBs -- four more in this group!  Will M be able to field a team of QBs?  Are we up to 11 total with the scholarship players?  The highlights of local guy Matt Harrison show someone with a fabulous arm.
