So you expect every player who's 20 to be able to play in college right away with no learning curves or they'll never be good even after 3-4 years under a top college coach like Beilein. College coaches are so much better than prep coaches and I don't see how there's much difference between joining the team at 18 vs. 20.
Sam Webb just tweeted that Dawkins got an offer too. The staff is looking to take both.

Both these guys are old. I think they become productive 4 year players but were 2 needed?

Local Lehigh Valley paper has an article with an interesting angle on Adbur-Rahkman's path to Michigan, which was aided by an old friend of John Beilein:
Dave Rooney, a 1959 Allentown High graduate who was a college basketball coach for 20 years at schools including Slippery Rock and Buffalo State, has known Wolverines coach John Beilein for years.
Rooney is in the real estate business now but still knows his basketball. And when he talked, Beilein listened.
"Coach Beilein told us that this guy [Rooney] really doesn't usually say good things about anybody," said Dawub Abdur-Rahkman, Muhammad's father. "So when [Rooney] had nothing but good things to say about Muhammad, that really got [Beilein] interested. That opened his eyes."
What Abdur-Rahkman's high school coach had to say is also worth noting:
"I just think the way Beilein coaches and the way Michigan plays will be right for Muhammad," Csensits said. "Muhammad is a throwback in that he's just a guard. He's not really a point guard and he's not really a two guard; he's just a guard. And if you watch Michigan play, they run a lot of two guard type stuff with guys with very similar skill sets to Muhammad.
"So when he started taking a look at Muhammad, I think [Beilein] saw someone who would be a good fit for how they play."
Csensits also said that Virginia Tech, Boston College, and Pitt had all expressed strong interest in Abdur-Rahkman late.

A look at the numbers this kid put up. He scored a crap ton of points and dished out a lot of assists. You don't do that kind of stuff if you aren't a good basketball player.
Will he be a superstar at Michigan? Well that isn't likely just because it's never likely that a prospective player is going to be a superstar. But this kid can play ball, likes to get to the basket, likes to pass, and plays good defense. With the block/charge rules changing, we really needed both a guy to attack the rim AND a defender, and this guy seems to fit both of those roles pretty well. We've got LeVert and Irvin to bomb away already. It would be great if everyone could shoot 3's but maybe this guy's main role will be to attack the hoop and dish to the shooters.
