I've got my first baby on the way. The opening of this video shook me to my core, especially the image of the firefighter holding him limp. I couldn't imagine going through something like this. Seeing how great of a man, and now father himself, Erick has become, shows that there's a plan for all of us. So grateful to have men of character like him leading our team this year. Thank you for sharing this! Go Blue!

My first is due in the next 2 weeks. Nerves are really starting to set in.

As long as you don't watch your baby from afar, I'm sure you're going to be an amazing parent! ;)

It’s more simple than you may realize.
They need to go to sleep knowing you love them every night and they need to wake up every morning knowing you love them and it’s ok to make mistakes as a parent.
Remarkable story.

This, love them and put them first in everything you do, and everything else will take care of itself.
The only other advice I have is read all the books, get all the information you can, understand all the different approaches/theories/whatever, then trust your instincts....no one will know your child like you will.

Just watched it. Wow.
As a father of a two year old, with another one coming in January, this especially hits home. That picture of Erick’s body just limp in the fireman’s arms is gut-wrenching.
You luckily knew what the final outcome had to be, but as a parent, I can’t imagine the pure agony and living nightmare of what those moments must’ve been like for Erick’s parents.
We say sports figures are heroes. They pale in comparison to firemen.

Holy crap. Is someone cutting onions in here? Make that firefighter and EMT honorary captains for game.

Holy %$*&! Wow - what an amazing story. Not gonna lie - I shed a few tears watching this.

Serious question: we just went through a house fire. Nobody hurt, but took almost a year to rebuild. Could this clip be triggering?

Sorry you went through such an experience. I’ve never been through anything like that, and it definitely produced an emotional response in me. If you still have trauma wounds from your fire, yes, it might be something to skip.

Thanks. We're back in our house, but things can still be raw. I'll probably watch it, but not when I am exhausted late at night before I go to sleep.

I haven't been through a house fire, but as a parent it is triggering, you can't help but put yourself in that situation and I defy any parent not to tear up watching it.
Watch it when it works for you, but watch it even if it is triggering.....that is how things become less/not triggering in the future and you get past them.

Wow! Never knew this story.
The smoke coming out of the house is crazy. Seeing a limp baby is a gut punch.
