Hauser Brothers Split Up - Joey to MSU/Sam to Virginia

Wisconsin really wanted both.  That program has serious talent issues going forward.

Nice addition for MSU.  Sure they'll try to get a waiver - whether or not it's legit.

Without having a clue who/what you're referencing in your post, (are they a jazz combo, an acrobatic act, an IT start up, an accounting firm . . . ?) I just want to say I feel for the Hauser Brothers, their parents, their extended family, the friends who have supported them over the years and the priests and nuns who prayed that they would stay together in their quest for greatness.

That program is not in great shape.  Gard is a decent coach, but has not recruited well.  This was a seemingly perfect unexpected opportunity to add some very good in-state talent to the roster and it didn't happen.  Gotta be frustrating for their fans.

Basketball rosters are so fluid that Gard will have a chance to recover but to your point his first four recruiting classes rank 12th, 5th, 13th and 14th in the B1G. Not a program built on 4 and 5 stars but that's still not encouraging for a program that's made the tourney 20 of the last 21 years.

Hiring a new coach has its transition costs but Wisconsin seems likely to be an example of the gradual decline that often comes with promoting in-house after a great coach leaves and assuming things will be the same.

Everyone here was a huge college basketball fan 60 days ago. After Beilein’s most talented players leave and recruits are getting released from their NLIs, you should know who two of the bigger transfer targets are.

The Hauser Bros played for Marquette last year.    Sam was a junior with All Big East credentials.  Joey was a freshman.    Both are versatile wings in the 6'8"-6'9" mold.    They hail from Stevens Point, WI.   Badger Nation was upset that they did not sign with Wisconsin, so getting snubbed a second time during this transfer process probably doesn't sit well with the kind folks in Madison.

Seems weird for Wisconsin to be so mad about it. I know they're from Wisconsin, but they also attended a rival school, no? I know they're not in the same conference but I'm sure they still view themselves as rivals. Plus, why transfer from Marquette to Wisconsin? Might as well stay at Marquette

Couple of talented Blue chip players from Stevens Point, Wisconsin. They were a serious recruiting win for Marquette, only a year and a half difference between the two. Sam is older, Joey is more talented and was recruited more nationally.

Some of the disagreements between them and Marquette stemmed from their feud supposedly with  Markus Howard. Howard reportedly was relentlessly pushing Sam in practice, which kinda turned them off, and apparently Wojo never really got a good grasp on the situation. Parents are also probably a little too involved. Joey is good. Sam is solid, they're more limited players, but still good.

Likely their parents dont read mgoblog and tweets from Michigan fans. Therefore they probably have a huge misconception about the real Tom Izzo. Unfortunately the majority of college basketball is oblivious to what a monster he is, hanging out with larry nassar and stuff. At least we know the truth.

The rich get richer.  We're in some real trouble with this rivalry for a long time.  Juwan Howard game planning against Tom Izzo...smh

According to Wisconsin co-worker.   They verbally committed to Gard 2 weeks ago, Mom was not happy.

Mom is still pissed that Bo Ryan never offered Sam out of high school, she told both of them they weren't going to Wisconsin.   So both ended up at Plan B's.

Kids are good players.  This is a solid pick up for MSU.   Howard is an unbelievable athlete but the Hausers were probably tired of watching the offense start and finish with him.

That team totally fell apart down the stretch.
