Bob Ufer really shows the impact one can have if they're passionate about what they do. He just called Michigan games on the radio, yet I've heard countless stories about Ufer solidifying a fandom for life.

for reminding us of Bob Ufer's birthday, too. Bo's birthday (#88) was mentioned in a few threads today, but these two inseparable Michigan icons deserve to be honored together. Like SBo mentioned already about Ol' Ufe, his radio broadcasts of Michigan Football played a big part in gaining converts to MEEECHIGAN---I've mentioned many a time the effect it had on my rebellion as a young teen from being an Irish fan. Bo also played a huge part in sealing the deal for many of us. Though I remember how much the Bob Timberlake-led '64-65 team initially caught the attention of this long-ago ND fan, that '69 monumental upset over Woody also played a very big role. Robert Frost Ufer then clinched it, as far as my Michigan conversion goes. Indeed, Happy Birthday up there in Football's Valhalla, Bo and Bob!!!

While I love those pictures, I don't think that's the Wangler/Carter game. That doesn't look like the big house end zone behind Corso, in particular those entrances to the seats. Maybe those pics were from a different game where IU crapped the bed and everyone always assumed it was the Anthony Carter game?

Count me also among those who did not realize that Schembechler (and his had been mentioned numerous times yesterday) and Ufer shared a birthday, and indeed it seems appropriate that they should in some ways as one gave the program a look and the other a voice, neither of which any of us will likely forget. Happy (well, now belated) birthday to both of them.
