Lions head coach Dan Campbell made it official today: Michigan's Graham Glasgow is now the starter at right guard:

Glasgow, who was a reserve at the beginning of this season, has filled in admirably while starting one game at center, one game at left guard, and four games at right guard.

May he stick around for another decade or so, giving time for the next generation of the Glasgow family to arrive in Ann Arbor and beyond!

They have let him mirror some coaches as well with a clipboard I thought I read. I gathered they thought in a few years he may have coaching potential or he expressed interest.

Something strange is going on with Vaitai. He seems hurt and Campbell’s comments kinda hint at that:

“We’re always assessing Big V (Vaitai) , and V is still working at it.”

Yet he’s not on the injury report and not on injured reserve.  And he’s practicing it appears.

Anyhow, Glasgow has been great and deserves to start.

Definitely dealing with longer term injury stuff but I also think they may just be saving him at this point. Being so prone to injury while also very effective when he does play kinda lines up for Detroit either way this year as Detroit probably sees Minnesota as the only threat in the North. If they think they can win the division regardless of V playing or not, may as well save him for the playoffs.

I'm totally guessing but it makes sense to me. The cherry on top being that Glasgow has played very well now at two different positions so it's not like they're bumming it in the meantime.

Yeah this makes the most sense. I mean against someone recently - was it Vegas? - they were down three starters and he still didn’t play. So maybe they are saving him for the playoffs. I dunno. I suppose he’s not on IR so they can play him if needed. Just surprised that being down three starters they didn’t use Vaitai. I imagine they are bending the rules a bit not putting him in the injured list, but by saying Glasgow is the starter, and making Big V the “backup”, it makes it appear like a depth chart situation.

For those - like me - who didn’t know: Ryan Glasgow is retired after an ACL injury after which he was never the same. Bounced around on practice squads until late 2020. Hate to see a career derailed by injury.

Jordan Glasgow had a cup of coffee on special teams for the Colts, and is studying for his MBA at The Wharton School (not THAT Wharton).

Long may Graham Glasgow reign!

V is going to retire. GG and Jonah re-signed.  I hope DPJ does well in his audition because I think he can be a solid number three. Could also see them target a G in the draft. Keegan/Zinter would fit the culture perfectly.
