Thank you for the heads-up. Praying for Graham, his family, and his career.

IANAD so I’m asking in the hopes we got someone who is, but I’d say getting a pacemaker would end his playing career, right?

Pacemaker? Who said anything about a pacemaker? Depending on the cause, it could be controlled by diet, medications or an ablation. Or it could be an anomaly that never appears again.
There’s a lot of options before you get to a pacemaker!

It's highly unlikely he has cardiac pathology necessitating a pacemaker. There are other types of unusual heart rhythms far much more common in people of his age and fitness level. Some of these can be relatively benign; others are career-ending. Hoping this is the former!

Before you go putting in a pacemaker in him, a premature ventricular contraction, or PVC, is the most common type of irregular heartbeat.
A PVC happens when the heart beats too early, which causes a stronger second beat. This causes a fluttering or pounding sensation in the chest. Most people have at least one PVC every day, and many don’t even notice it.
Things like caffeine, alcohol and stress can cause small, temporary arrhythmias like PVCs.

I have a problem with occasional PVCs and while they are troubling, I’m told that they’re not alarming unless they become more frequent.

I have a couple per day and they used to freak me out, but now just ignore them after being told not to worry about them. My doc said you need to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 25% plus of your total daily heartbeats being PVCs for it to be a concern or if you get a long run of them. Hope Mr. Glasgow makes a swift return to the field and this ends up being nothing serious.

Well folks, I did say I’m not an expert. Hopefully me getting schooled, schooled others as well. Thanks for the lessons.
No one in my family has this particular problem. Other problems, some quite nasty, but not this.

IANAD but I'd say getting your legs amputated would end his playing career, right?

I had an irregular heartbeat when I had COVID. I don’t know if that’s normal but it scared me for a week. Never had any irregularity since.
hope for a quick recovery for mr Glasgow.

Could be a side effect of myocarditis. I feel like I'm still feeling the effects of COVID-induced myocarditis from time to time well over a year later...

I had them due to stress from a project from hell. It is all better now.

Good thing you didn’t get that pacemaker.

Nice one UP!

Sounds like the Pfizer jab, my sister has been going through the same thing shortly after the second jab she took to keep her Teaching job smh. I’m sure it has absolutely nothing to do with it though, nothing to see here, purely anecdotal.
September 13th, 2021 at 6:03 PM ^
You will likely get down voted for that comment, but there is in fact a correlation between the Pfizer vaccine and post vaccination heart issues. I was having irregular heart rhythm‘s for several weeks after my vaccination.

I have been dealing with an irregular rapid heart rate which showed up shorty after I had Covid. Maybe a coincidence maybe not. I play hoops three times a week and am in good condition.
It does not happen often but when it does i become exhausted. I am fine after a few minutes rest. I saw an EP and he said he is 99.9% an ablation will cure it. It’s an outpatient procedure. But they are still fucking with your heart.

In Michigan, job is sometimes pronounced "jab."
I am all for a jabs for jobs program where anyone who wants to keep a job gets a jab. And anyone without a job who gets the jab will in return get a job. Ya feel me?

Wishing a speedy recovery for Mr. Glasgow and God speed. His twitter makes it sound like he doing pretty well.

Be well

He most likely had supraventricular tachycardia ( paroxysmal atrial tachycardia ) or less likely atrial fibrillation.
Did not see anything about PVCs and those usually are not treated unless intrusive. Treatment often worse than having PVCs.
As long as no indication for anticoagulation he should be able to suit up and play.
