FWIW on McGuffie
FWIW on McGuffie, Scout insider board (yes, the cult of TJB) is saying McGuffie confirmed to be coming back to the team on Thursday.
Does that mean anything for sure? Who knows? But if even one person waits until Thursday to jump off a bridge, then I've done my job.

I can't reiterate (sp?) enough, this does not mean he is officially gone. We reported that he expressed his intent to leave. So we'll probably have to wait until after break to find out what happens. We're all routing for him to stay, but who knows.

Also (and I don't know what to believe right now), just because he's returning to the team on Thursday doesn't mean he's returning to the team in 2009.

Right. He is scheduled to return to campus on Thursday. So... why is it announced he won't play Saturday?

Death in the family, concussion aftereffects, or shoulder injury. You can choose which.

not to mention missing practice all week

Assuming the transfer isn't final, I'm guessing it's just because he won't practice all week. Rich seemed pretty adamant early in the season that those players who practice will play

the fact that he's had 2 concussions already might have something to do with it

I know of one concussion (MSU), but when was the other?

not Michigan Football.

and been trying to figure out what is going on. My hypothesis follows:
We know from interviews that Sam is a man of few words, and he appears to be reserved even with friends and teammates. We know he's been struggling with homesickness since he arrived in Michigan, combine that with the recent injuries and a death in the family and it's understandable that he is having a difficult time. I'm sure he is struggling with wanting to go home and be with his family, I know I would. I have a feeling that he may have let these thoughts be known to someone he is close with on the team. From there it spread quickly to all the other team members... and thanks to the telephone game has morphed into "Sam is transferring". It just sounds to me like nothing is definitive with this situation (as Brian and others have indicated). I think we should all be patient and let Sam discuss this with his parents and the coaches. Hopefully he decides to stay blue... no pun intended.

Would it be too much to show up to the funeral with a giant "Come to UT" or "Come to A&M" sign to possibly piss him off about one of those two schools?

Oh. My. God.
November 18th, 2008 at 10:59 PM ^
I'll take that as "CAL-Berkeley while in a hippie costume" instead?
November 19th, 2008 at 11:28 AM ^
While smoking a bowl.
November 19th, 2008 at 12:34 PM ^
You should be doing that anyway.
November 19th, 2008 at 12:56 PM ^
I will neither confirm nor deny that.

Mario Manningham would like to go back to school and play for Cal.

... his decision is, he played hard for UM. Everyone should support his decision; we may not like him leaving, but he didn't quit(during games) or become a distraction.
If he doesn't stay, I wish him all the best.
Unless he goes to OSU.

Add me to the "wait and see" list. Whatever happens with Sam, good luck to him. He seems like a good kid and has quickly become my favorite Wolverine (after Brandon Graham).
