Fort divided...

Submitted by HurryUpYost on
After listening to Rich Leach and all the other stories this week it appears there really is a huge behind the scenes issue at Schem Hall. Now I'm not asking to rehash something thats been beat to death already on this blog. Rather I'm interested in what do you think happens now after Saturday. Does the problem go away now that the fans and several media outlets have come out in force in favor of Rich Rods program? Or does it just continue to lay in the shadows waiting for it's next chance to strike out?

IMO the team is over it. The are football players and it is football season-Winning games, just like it has been all their lives, is what they are focused on right now.

And it's not just Rick Leach that has commented on the "issue" you mentioned. King Beaver and others have said the same thing. Rocdriguez still needs a signature win to really muffle the noise or relegate that faction (if it really exists) to a smaller, quieter corner (hopefully in the basement with their Red Stapler). One thing that was nice about this win is that it wasn't even close. I think that goes a long way. Yes, it was Western, but many thought a close game and possible upset would be how it played out. Hopefully, UM trashed much more than Western Michigan with that first-half performance Saturday.

if we lose to ND the Angry RichRod-Hating Alumni will be out in full force again. The real-estate-deal-gone-bad thing doesn't help, either. Initial reports indicated RR was simply one of several guarantors of a RE loan, but later info about the ties to the Clemson guy doesn't look good on the surface, and is exactly the kind of thing that keeps the "not a real Michigan Man" thing going. Never a good idea to enter into financial relationships with anyone banned from any school.

On the real estate deal. Bad call. but he made it from within the cocoon of West Virginia (IIRC), probably not figuring on being under this type of microscope. I know not many people will look at it this way, though, but you have to believe Rosenberg sat on PracticeGate and this real estate thing until he could unleash Freep Hell on Rodriguez with back-to-back sledgehammers in an attempt to finally turn public opinion his way. The two stories sit there as an aside to what Rosie hopes will be a poor season, and then, when all things are considered, Rich Rod and UM part ways at the end and Rosenberg wins that coveted Southeastern Michigan Sportswriter of the Year award along with the even more respected Detroit Free Press Investigative Journalist of 2009 plaque.

Most likely, RR had nothing to do with it at all; it probably was someone in charge of his finances thinking he'd spotted a good deal.

It must be noted that the Fort critics can't even agree on what they want. Some were/are in the Miles camp, but certainly not all - Carr hates Miles with a passion and a lot of people in the Fort desperately wanted to avoid bringing him in. (The notion that Miles would have united everyone is laughable. The rift might have been even larger.) Many wanted some kind of a continuation of the Carr regime, either in the form of DeBord or Hoke. The only chance these guys have of having any kind of relevance is if RR fails. Right now the fanbase appears to have rallied behind RR and as long as that continues, these guys will just have to stew in private or accept it.

Having an opinion is fine, but on what facts do you base this opinion? Rick Leach was an outstanding member of the Michigan Football program and has supported and represented this university well. He supports the coach, the staff and the players. If nothing else he puts a name to his comments, unlike the "unnamed sources" that Rosendouche uses.

I meant Rick Leach. Hell I had to look at what I typed 5 freaking times to even figure out what Rodfather was talking about. Listen to the Pod Casts on WTKA 9/4/09 when he was on with Bruce Madej Pod 1 and 2. Rick says the fort is divided period. He calls them out without saying a name but makes it very clear he is talking about LC. I'm just wondering what everyone thought after the win, fans and media support for RichRod would this go away.

Unfortunately when a group of people have made their mind up not to like you the bar is high (excuse the Marty Mornhinweg line) The bizzaro detractors may only cease when this staff gets a MNC. Some of the more reasonable ones will back off before then, but this is emotional rather than a logical issue for them so it will take a while. Hearing the caller who identified himself as a former member of Gittleson's S&C staff spew venom about Coach Rodriguez, and Barwis (As a self promoter!!!) made me realize this is like family members reaction to a new person after a divorce. They can't look at them for who they are and what they bring to the table or accomplish. They seem to view things as a referendum on what they were a part of. Eight track tapes were great in their day, as were cassettes, compact disc etc. The (RR)evolution of Michigan Football is a necessary and just another proud building block of our tradition. I know one or two of these folks and I remind them of my favorite quote. "Change is inevitable, the only question is if it will be done by you or to you." P.S. Give the man a pass on the h/k typo. Even with that more accuracy than the (redacted) vis-a-vis Michigan Football.

Yes it was a typo "Rick Leach" It was just an honest question about the fact Rick says there are those in Schem Hall that want RichRod Gone Period... It was on WTKA website Podcast...Bruce Madej and Rick Leach part 1 and 2 on 9/4/09.
