Former CB Keith Washington on PFF's Big 12 Team of the Week
Just noticed that Keith Washington--former Michigan CB out of Prattville, AL, who transferred to WVa--was listed on PFF's Big 12 Team of the Week, and was the second highest graded defensive player in the conference on the week.
Happy to see him doing well.

....mountain mama....

They love their Mountaineers here in West Virginia. Perhaps best of all: they really don't have any expectations of WVU being national championship caliber. It's a fairly healthy fan relationship, from what I've seen.

Game sealing pick six for Keith this week!

He didn't want to play safety.

Not totally true. Didn't he come in as a WR, then he got switched to CB, and then they wanted him to play safety. 3 position changes in 2 years would make anyone a little nervous.

No, he was never a WR. He came in as a HS QB that was going to play CB. People speculated that if CB didn't work out, he might make a decent WR.

Hard to blame him.
He was behind two guys (maybe even three) that were better than he was and who may be around for two more years.
Guy made the right decision for himself to get somewhere that didn't have such great depth at CB. His path to the field was going to be better at S because of that depth, so the coaches rightly wanted to see if they could get him on the field, he said no, I can play CB at a high level (something probably no one doubted) and I want to start somewhere. He left.
This is great for him. Definitely happy for him.
Also, what is it with West Virginia and DBs transferring from M?

Good for Mr Washington.

There is this weird dichotomy as a fan of wishing someone the best (which I do) and also super salty over what it could have meant for my team if he stayed (which I am).
Good job Mr. Washington, I hope you keep crushing it. I just wish you were crushing it here!!

Probably playing better than L. Hill right now unfortunately

Slow playing kids is never a good thing

Who are you talking about besides Eno Benjamin?

Cabral

Always thought he would be good but I understood why he left. He was probably 3 at best and fighting with Watson for that. Kid made the best choice for him, hard to argue with that.
Best of luck to him and I look forward to him having a great career.

Wasn't Washington the guy who offered to run the 40 in the parking lot?
That was one of my favorite Harbaugh recruiting stories

....Or in the street, right in front of KW’s house, during Harbaugh’s visit.

Conversely, WVU switched up Michael Ferns’ positions a number of times. I’m not sure if he ever got meaningful PT.
What a strange world we live in.
