FORBES: 5 Ways Jim Harbaugh Is Disrupting College Football

Submitted by othernel on

I love the fact that our HC is getting press from not sports outlets. It's got to tweak the other coaches to no end.

For the business set, an article that talks about how Harbaugh is breaking a lot of the conventions at UM and across college football;

I love that Harbaugh does things differently. Michigan has the resources to do so, and is now leading the way forward.

Yost was an innovator, too. Great people do things their way and aren't so interested in "me, too."

College football has had many lows, and Jackie Sherrill has been involved in some of them. But the Mississippi State coach`s latest stunt definitely goes way below the belt, as some poor bull discovered.

It has been revealed that Sherrill allowed a bull to be castrated in front of his team before Mississippi State`s game with Texas. He said he used it as an educational and motivational experience.

Not a follower.  College Football better get ready for even more out of the box thinking, challenging other conferences, and one hell of a passionate coach........and he is our coach.

It's easy to see why he pisses people off. He pushes the envelope, made a LOT of sportswriters wrong about his likes/temperament/destination, and hopefully draws attention to the hypocrisy and overall douchebagery of much of college football's administration. Also,he wins. Winning can piss a lot of people off. It's why a lot of colleges used to focus so much on beating us, and why Sparty STILL enjoys our losses more than their wins. I say keep at it.

People don't like change. They are comfortable in their status quo and don't like when someone or something comes in to mess with that. Harbaugh is doing just that.

Harbaugh also has a very odd, polarizing personality that just bothers a lot of people. But he's here to stay, and as long as he keeps winning, everyone else is just going to have to learn to deal with it.

Really a pretty good article. I was surprised with it coming from Forbes, but I think that this shows that taking an objective look at what Harbaugh has done so far at Michigan results in lessons that can teach leaders of all kinds how to lead better. Something that could have been said of the likes of Yost and Bo. He's in good company there.
