Football visitors this week
Michigan is expecting a bunch more visitors this week/weekend, and that includes recently offered quarterback Justyn Martin, a 4-star QB from California who is committed to Cal. He visited MSU yesterday and is at Michigan today.
Two other California quarterbacks are expected to visit Michigan this week in Jayden Denegal (no offer yet) and Nate Johnson (offer).
I will keep updating the list throughout the week.
My interpretation of Johnson's recruitment was that UM may have slowed things down a bit, but supposedly he performed extremely well at Elite 11 over the weekend. Any takeaways on his situation? I know he's borderline Denard fast, not sure if you have thoughts on his vision, decision making, arm strength, accuracy.....overall if you like him as a prospect for Weiss to work with?
I'm curious why you feel that way about Johnsons recruitment? I don't agree with that assessment at all. I think they have put more eggs in their basket to make sure they actually get a QB, but I think Johnsons recruitment has kinda blown up and they see the competition is gonna be a little stiffer. Well that's they way I see it, that's why I'm curious why you feel the way you do.

Pretty sure, Seth said something similar in a recent write up
On the recent 247 podcast with Steve Lorenz, Sam, et. al., they were debating whether the change in stance was because they were hotter on another option (kid from AL rising quickly) or just covering bases. Nobody seemed to know for sure.
Steve did opine that the AL kid might be more of a fit as a runner and passer since Johnson didn't really light things up passing (or running) in his Spring season.
M has yet to see him throw in-person and he did apparently show some skills in LA over the weekend. I would bet that if we don't get strong vibes of a commit after the visit it is an indication that the staff is re-prioritizing.
I'm not really sure how it has blown up in any significant way. The only other offers he's really picked up since Michigan offered are ones from San Diego State and Arizona State. He has an official scheduled to Utah, but the Utes offered before Michigan did.
I was not a fan of his sophomore film. His junior film is better. He improved significantly as a passer, in my opinion. I would take him at this point, and I would not have said that prior to seeing his spring film. I still wish he had a little better anticipation. I don't like to see quarterback film where the QB holds onto the ball forever, has to scramble until he finds someone open, etc.
Elite QBs need to be able to make quick reads and hit throws at the top of their drop. He doesn't do that enough, in my opinion. But he does do a nice job of seeing windows open up and putting the ball in the right spot, over defenders, between defenders, etc.
Magnus,
Really appreciate your recruiting updates here. Also, as always enjoying your player countdown. Eagerly awaiting the first likely contributor in your countdown as that seems like a worthy topic for a post here.
Thanks!
Is Walter Nolen coming?
If I told you I knew one way or the other, I would be lying.
Just kidding!!
Still zero CBs for him (period).
Sam Webb put out a teaser tweet to a premium post but the lack of ballz -- or any buzz period -- makes me believe that nobody is sharing info - if info even exists. (I don't pay for premium access)
Sam said he is coming.
Coming for his visit, or committing to Michigan?
Visiting.
247 had an article where is dad said he tweeted that because he was sick of the recruiting process but is still taking all his visits and will decide after his visits
