Florida IS NOT OFFERING a last minute package deal for Robinson and Witty?

Submitted by Lumpers on
Does Tom VH or anyone else know if Florida is relenting and agreeing to offer Witty as part of a pkg deal for D Robinson? Saw this from Mandel at SI.com, "There remains a possibility that No. 27 Greg Reid, a defensive back who recently decommitted from Florida, will make Miami his final visit this weekend." Does this open a DB spot for Florida so they can match what M and KSU are offering Robinson/Witty? Maybe this is old news from Mandel (would not be a surprise as SI and ESPN are constantly a 1 month behind reality in recruiting scoops)

Greg Reid decommitted from Florida 29 days ago. If Florida was looking to replace him with Witty, they would've offered by now. Michigan is too big of a factor with both Robinson and Witty for Florida to assume they can just offer Witty on signing day and expect to land the two of them. Simply put, Witty isn't a Florida-caliber player. Greg Reid's a 5-star, and he decommitted because Florida's returning their entire secondary and it's going to be hard to get into the lineup. Witty would never see the field in Gainesville. And this is moot anyway, since Florida already told Witty they will not be offering him because they don't have a spot for him. He didn't visit, and won't be visiting.

Reid is going to Florida State or Georgia. Looking at that Florida secondary, damn they are loaded. Hopefully one day our back 7 will respected and feared again. Quinton Washington is visiting the U this weekend and they are desperate for OL, so they'll put the full court press on him.

I am guessing that the package deal, along with a bona fide opportunity to play, is ultimately the difference-maker. And I do have to agree with The Other Brian that Florida's talent level is tons higher than UM's right now. I think RR should have the pipelines working even better in a year or two. I just hope that they do get Robinson as a backup plan. Just like OSU is depending on Pryor not to get injured, UM could be in the same position with Forcier. And for all of the Forcier family hype and all of the preperation they get before college from their dad, it's not like the family has a pattern of success anywhere. Here's hoping Tate is able to break the family pattern and turn into what I see as his ultimate upside: a reasonable facsimile of Chase Daniel.
