Feagin? Feagin? Feagin?

Submitted by wingedG on

What the hell. Why isnt anyone talking about feagin? he cant be any worse and oh yeah he can run!!!

unless i didnt hear about it did he get redshirted?

Threets arm is a pile of shit now and he couldnt hit an open reciver before the injury anyway and sheridan just sucks and david cone is david cone. RR should at least try feagin out for a little bit to see if he can spark the offense.

WTF!!!???

Dude. Take a deep breath and sit down. There's a specific reason that Sheridan not Feagin came into the game when Threet couldn't continue: Sheridan is better. I know, it's hard to believe, but I'm pretty sure that Rodriguez and his staff are sufficiently capable of evaluating the situation. Feagin is a true freshman who hasn't practiced at QB most of the fall. He knows like 5 plays or something.

I have never seen a crapier quarterback start a game then Sheridan, it is not possible for Feagin to be worse.  Sheridan(despite it being his one upside) is slow, he holds the ball to long and when he does throw he seems to be colorblind because he has thrown way more interceptions than touchdowns.

GIVE FEAGIN A CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's entirely possible for Feagin to be worse. For example, Sheridan probably actually knows the plays because he's smart and has been practicing at the QB position the entire season. If Feagin doesn't know how to play QB in the offense, he'll be even worse than Sheridan, short of some magical ability to levitate over opposing defenses.

Anyway, hopefully Three can stay healthy for the rest of the season, which would make this entire argument moot.

like i said at the bottom. These people asking for feagin need to watch his practice clips. Sheridan, threet, and feagin throw the ball one after the other, and feagin looks pathetic compared to the other two. Based on how sheridan is doing throwing the ball (And he actually has some type of arm), I'd say feagin wouldnt even be a threat to throw it

What do you have against Threet?  I thought he played a good game in a very tough environment yesterday.  Did you really think we'd be ahead at halftime against the #3 team in the country on the road?

Not to mention that he's a 19-year-old freshman whose total college football experience prior to being tossed in the frying pan this fall was sitting around and waiting for his transfer year to be over. And he's clearly been hurt for at least the last 2 weeks. It's a little early to kick him off the bus - experience makes a huge difference for college QBs.

True fact: until his injury, Steven Threet played very, very, well yesterday. People want to look around this.

I'm all about using feagin as a backup.  All sheridan can do it run (and not all that well), when he throws passes they are terrible off mark.  hell, we could put odoms or minor in to run and throw bad passes.

You are one of the worst posters on this board.

Sheridan sucks, yes. But the quaterback position is about more than just passing and throwing. It's about running the offense in its entiriety. Think about all the bad fumbles and botched executions we've witnessed this year. In many ways, these have been far more detrimental than simply going three and out and punting. From the onset, the coaching staff has said that Feagin's main problem was and remains understanding the offense. That probably means Feagin doesn't know a lot of the plays thoroughly and has problems with snap counts and clock management and defense recognition.

Like most of your points, gater, you're wrong on this one. If Feagin was anywhere near being ready to play, he would be in there. But, he's not.  The position requires more than just running and passing; there are, you know, cognitive elements related to understanding and managing the game.

How has Sheridan done at managing the game?  He's done so well that he gets yanked riht when threet gets feeling back in his hand.  Sheridan probably knows all of the playbook, but they don't and can't run most of it because he can't throw. At this point in the season feagin has been practicing with the offense for months, if he didn't know any plays they wouldn't have been warming him up last week.  If you have anymore bad ideas please share because you're fun to ridicule.

That's exactly the point. If Sheridan is this poor at running the offense, think about how bad a guy like Feagin would be. He's a more athletic, sure, but a worse passer and is unable, apparently, to "grasp" the game. There is more to this offense, or any offense, than simply being able to run around. We always say it can't get worse, but, literally, it always can.

And, if I died, most people wouldn't miss me. But to say none is to go overboard. My moms would be sad for at least a week.

Watch the practice videos on mgoblue.com Feagin looks pathetic throwing the ball. He isnt even an option

I'd be MORE THAN HAPPY if Threet were to play the rest of the season as well as he did in the first half on Saturday.

But, then again, at this point I'll be happy just to HAVE him the rest of the season.

Watch the practice videos on mgoblue. Feagin looks pathetic. He isnt an option, and if he was an option we would have seen him already. Feagin will probably never take a snap at QB

In Feagin's defense, though, those videos are from 2 months ago.  Little has been learned about him by those of us non-coaches since fall practices.  I'm sure by now he knows more than 5 plays.  After 8 weeks of games, most everyone on the offense knows more than 5 plays for the QB position.  Fact remains, if Feagin was or is a viable option, the coaches will plan accordingly.  So if Threet can't go this week, we might see him, or Coner.  Fact remains - if RR puts Sheridan in the game before Feagin, that's a pretty good indicator that Sheridan is the better QB.

I was really expecting this thread to be done Jim Mora style:

"Feagin?

FEAGIN?

Don't talk to me about Feagin!  Are you kidding me?

Feagin?  I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game!"

So I guess the reason we haven't seen Feagin is because he has had issues with his shoulder.

"He's had limited reps and injuries," coach Rich Rodriguez said Wednesday. "He's had this shoulder where he wasn't able to throw two days in a row (this fall). So we've been playing him more at slot receiver, which has been easier for him to grasp.
