Extreme OT: Augmented Reality
This new technology amazes me & if your a tech nerd you'll appreciate this.
It incorporates the GPS,Compass, and POIs (points of interest). How nice would that be if your at a road game and you need to find a ATM? I saw the original article here is anyone wants to read further...

The augmented reality stuff is really cool. When a newer version of Yelp was released in the App Store not too long ago, it had augmented reality in it (it was a hidden feature). It was fun walking around seeing the shops and ratings on the iPhone screen.

Yeah, that stuff is crazy. GE did an augmented reality smart grid that was pretty cool. You need to print off the piece of paper from the website, and have a webcam.

Hopefully Indiana does not use this to find the endzone this weekend.

Because it's so hard to look at a map to find things, or use your memory to remember that Wendy's serves burgers.
There comes a point where frivolous software just... I dunno. Yes, it's "cool". But I'd be hard pressed to find a use for it.

This is helpful for when you go on vacation or to big cities that you're not familiar with. It doesn't just show you places that are right in front of your face, it will show you places that are on the other sides of buildings.
There is also one that will show you where the subways are at.

Your missing the whole point and the possibilities with this technology...
Imagine using this as a learning tool for your kid....walking around Washington DC locating monuments, locations of where presidents gave speeches, historic battlefields.
Or from a military standpoint...imagine soldiers patrolling Baghdad being able to identify building with known weapon caches, no-strike areas like hospitals/schools, etc.
This is far from frivolous....its the beginning of a whole new sector of technology. You're the guy in the 1800s that thought the automobile was a dumb idea.
