Explain This...
As we all know The 3-3-5 defense is built on speed and quickness. And until we get linebackers that run low 4.5s and safeties and cbs that run low 4.4s (which rich rod is working on) we're goin to be vulnerable in areas and teams will look to exploit those areas of weakness.michigan has always struggled against the spread offense and the lack of defensive speed was a major reason! Again the 3 3 5 is built on speed and quickness and With much of the defensive players returning I ask "Playing the devils advocate" what's to believe there will be a remarkable turnable defensively next year using the 3 3 5????

Speed (40 times) is probably less of a factor than "quickness," anticipation and "reading a play" for LB's.

We were all hoping last year that M's defense would be better against spreads since they would be practicing against it.
Once we realized who the weekly "competition" was, it was no surprise they hadn't evolved very much. With one more year the offense HAS to be better and I'm willing to give the D the same benefit of the doubt.

Why does everyone keep stressing over this? We don't even have a DC right now and we're worrying about the defensive scheme? Let's wait a little bit.

We don't need a dc to figure out the 3 3 5 is the desired scheme rich rod wants to run...its clear bc rich rod made the change from a 4 3 to the 3 3 5 and fired the former dc and is currently looking for a replacement who has the same outlooks. Plus if he didn't want the 3 3 5 why did he switch to it rather than to the 4 4 or the dime? Coincidently the 3 3 5 is what he ran at wvu. Go figure...

Did you seriously suggest even the possibility of using the "dime" as a base defensive package?
Dude...NCAA 09 is not the most accurate representation of what defensive coaches use.

No it was an example...wait your telling me coaches don't get their formations from ea sports video games? Are you goin to tell me there's no santa too?

in the little box in the upper-right corner...there have been a million threads about this lately
