ESPN releases 2015 rankings

Submitted by I Like Burgers on

Looks like ESPN just released their rankings for the class of 2015.  In terms of Michigan targets, TomVH has a good article on it.  They have Jashon Cornell -- who has some interest in Michigan -- listed as the top player.  Other players of note:

#3 WR George Campbell

#17 QB Josh Rosen

#20 RB Damien Harris

#38 CB Minkah Fitzpatrick

#49 CB Shaun Crawford

#51 DE Joshua Alabi

Could be another great year at DB and DE for Michigan.

These 2015(!) rankings are so pointless. The class of 2014 recruits haven't even commenced their final high school seasons yet and ESPN thinks they know which players in the 2015 class are the best. So stupid. Recruiting is just out of control these days.

We get it.  You are much better than us becuase you don't care about recruiting until signing day.  You are also better than those who spend money on recruiting sites.

You don't need to post this in every recruiting thread.  It is pretty simple, don't open threads that you don't care about.

In an industry that's entirely built on the idea of "what's next" the early rankings actually make some sense.  And given that college coaches are offering 7th and 8th graders (classes of 2016 and 2017), having some sort of rough grouping of the top 300 recruits isn't entirely outlandish.

However, given that these 2015 kids have two full seasons of football left to play, I'd bet something like 30-40% of the kids on this early list won't be on the final 2015 rankings list.  And there will probably be kids on that final 2015 list that have barely played at all on their current high school teams.

Am I the only one whose mind is totally blown seeing Hjalte Froholdt at #14 overall? When we offered him a greyshirt, nobody knew who the kid was. His tape doesn't look unusually impressive, his physique and athleticism are good but not otherworldly, and he is very inexperienced. I figured he'd end up a 3-star type, but ESPN has him pegged as an early blue chip 5-star.
