ESPN($) - NBA 2021 Mock Draft

Submitted by umjgheitma on October 14th, 2019 at 10:02 AM

ESPN posted their mock draft rankings after the USA junior national mini camp over the weekend. Franz Wagner is slated at 18th overall and Livers at 58th.

Other interesting notes: USC has two first rounders with one being two overall. Aaron Henry and Xavier Tillman come in at 41 and 50 respectively. Franz is the only Big 10 player to be considered a first round talent (granted there are several undecideds on the list that may end up on a Big Ten squad).

So they have pegged Franz as a two and done kind a guy - seems reasonable. Livers as a 4 year starter going in the 2nd round - I can live with that TYVM. Howard has some nice pieces in place already.  Hopefully we get the massive domino to fall this Thursday...

Tillman might be good enough to go after this year. He is already married and has a kid, and I don’t necessarily think a senior year without Winston will benefit him. I hope he goes.

Recruiting target Moses Moody is also in the rankings, coming in at 29. He's a 3&D type player, so you can see why he'd be an attractive NBA prospect. Surprising that he's on the list but Isaiah Todd is not. Either way, let's get them both in!

They should probably just do a top 50 or top 60 draft prospects, not a mock draft. Because there's no way to come close to accurately forecast a mock draft due to the lottery and two seasons needing to be played before this draft. They just call it one because they probably think a mock draft will drive more clicks than a "top 50" list would.

I think it’s likely Livers is gone after this year given how rare it is for a guy to move up draft boards as a senior.

Barring a big leap he won’t be drafted early but versatile defenders with range fit on any team so he’ll get drafted somewhere.

He definitely should do the workout/eval step to decide but with how many dudes are going pro early nowadays I set my personal expectations accordingly.

I'd bet $1 he goes from excellent college defender to ok pro defender. Do that with a little positional versatility and hit threes at a solid clip (40.6% on 180 attempts at Michigan) and you get a solid NBA career.
