Please be true.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:25 PM ^
Confirmed. ESPN is back on my YouTube TV feed.
December 19th, 2021 at 4:06 PM ^
Yeah I just got an email from YTTV confirming it.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:29 PM ^
wonder how much $$ hulu/sling made this weekend, I contributed to Sling's bottom line for 24 hours worth of access.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:35 PM ^
My plan was to wait a couple of days then do a free week of fubol then Hulu to get through bowl season. Happily, I don’t have to do that. I wonder what my monthly rate is now?
December 19th, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
Email says still $65/month with a one time discount of $15 for the kerfuffle.
December 19th, 2021 at 4:38 PM ^
I just saw that. They could have easily skipped the $15 credit or pro rated it for actual time lost (I guess that would have been $0.50). Good PR move on their part.
December 20th, 2021 at 7:50 AM ^
Procrastination wins the day. I was too lazy and pissed off to sign up for another service and learn a new User Interface and voila! Problem solved.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:35 PM ^
Double post.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
December 19th, 2021 at 3:39 PM ^
Same here. No ABC yet.
December 19th, 2021 at 4:47 PM ^
Email says ABC is bring restored to throughout the day.
Posbang baby!
December 19th, 2021 at 9:41 PM ^
Local abc and the ESPNs are back on my stream.
edit: access restored for abc and ESPN broadcasts of Michigan games!
December 19th, 2021 at 3:33 PM ^
And just like that I'm back on YouTube TV
So, take a guess. What % of their users canceled like I did once they lost ESPN/ABC?
December 19th, 2021 at 4:04 PM ^
I did
trialing directv stream right now and pretty impressed honestly. Has 5.1 surround sound on a lot of content and picture quality looks better (although less 4k offerings). Also can do Picture in Picture on iPhone and iPad which youtube tv never allowed. Will probably stick with this even though it’s a little more expensive
December 19th, 2021 at 8:05 PM ^
The one thing I love about yttv is I have a daughter in Virginia and when visiting her I feel like I’m at home with my tv. Also I love being able to occasionally watch live sports on my phone when my wife wants to drive.
December 19th, 2021 at 5:05 PM ^
I didn't cancel. I figured they'd get the deal done in a couple days. Would be a terrible move for both parties to not make it happen.
December 19th, 2021 at 5:09 PM ^
I canceled last night. I'm sure they had a mass exodus and decided they better get this deal done and give the $15 credit to appease everybody. I actually found a youtube channel that streamed all of the bowl games yesterday so I didn't miss anything
December 19th, 2021 at 5:22 PM ^
I did. Went to FUBO. If I like it I’ll keep it. If not I’ll go back.
December 20th, 2021 at 3:19 PM ^
I also jumped over to FUBO. My family likes soccer and it has more channels for that. This sounds lazy but it also stays on the last channel you were on when you turn it on, so you don't have to start at the top of the menu every time.
December 19th, 2021 at 5:45 PM ^
Considering you can't actually cancel mid billing cycle, effectively very few people actually left.
December 19th, 2021 at 6:15 PM ^
Yes you can. It may not be effective until the end of the billing cycle but I did cancel and I left. If I want to go back I have to sign back up.
December 19th, 2021 at 7:49 PM ^
That’s not true at all. Financially speaking nobody has “left” yet. But it’ll be reflected next month when those who cancelled don’t return, since they’ll have to sign back up to have an account.
December 19th, 2021 at 7:59 PM ^
What I'm saying is most people are likely to return and since this resolved quickly and YT doesn't issue partial month refunds, those people that let and came back don't impact their bottom line.
December 19th, 2021 at 8:48 PM ^
But most people aren’t likely to return is the point. Considering the people that cancelled have largely went ahead and signed up for an alternative streaming service. It’ll be reflected next month for sure, but you can just look at this thread and see a number of people who cancelled and have no interest in going back.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
That was the last straw for me. Between the $15 increase for a bunch of crap channels I don’t watch, the dispute that took the app off the Roku, and this, I am trying Hulu plus live TV with the Disney+ and ESPN+ bundle for a while.
I did notice the basketball game on BTN was a little pixelated last night on Hulu, so we’ll see how this goes.
I bet they bled subs yesterday, right into Disney’s pockets.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
Ours isn’t updated yet. No ESPN or ABC.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:41 PM ^
Last straw for you, and you throw business to the party that caused the mess? Cool
December 19th, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
What?
December 20th, 2021 at 10:44 AM ^
Yeah anyone that switched to Hulu basically gave ESPN/Disney license to keep doing this in the future. The whole reason cable and streaming services keep getting more expensive is mostly ESPNs fault. 50% of your bill is going right to Disney.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
Hulu plus is fine. We saw some pixelation, but i think that was more of my internet tham Hulu. It generally clears up in seconds when it happens.
December 19th, 2021 at 6:22 PM ^
I switched to fubo as I was having friends over to drink beer, eat pizza, and watch football in the shop all day
not switching back cuz fuck em and Fubo has more channels anyway

And just like that I'm somehow double posting with a five minute lag between posts.
Been here a LONG time. Can safely say I've done that before.
December 19th, 2021 at 3:59 PM ^
We back!
December 19th, 2021 at 4:10 PM ^
What’s the opposite of shooting the messenger?
December 19th, 2021 at 4:33 PM ^
Fist bump I'd say
December 19th, 2021 at 4:21 PM ^
I was cheering for YouTube in this dispute. At some point the outrageous fees for sports needs to stop.
December 19th, 2021 at 4:40 PM ^
It wasn’t just sports, it was for all Disney owned channels. Which included ABC, Freeform, FX, NatGeo and ESPN. It was a much wider spectrum than just sports and a lot of people left, not just sports fans.
December 19th, 2021 at 6:52 PM ^
Which is why I was in the fuck off ESPN/Disney camp. All those other channels are useless, why force us to pay for them when ESPN is the only reason they can exist.
December 19th, 2021 at 7:46 PM ^
I watch Freeform, FX, and National Geographic regularly, especially around the holidays.
December 19th, 2021 at 7:50 PM ^
That’s you. Plenty of people watch those other channels. Freeform and FX are hugely popular movie channels. ABC is hugely popular for local news sources and pretty much anyone with kids uses Disney channel.
You specifically only needing Disney for their sports isn't representative of everyone else. This impacted a lot of viewers outside of the sports world, and thinking they only exist because of ESPN is really ignorant of the reality here. ESPN brings in a lot of revenue but is also extremely expensive to operate.
December 20th, 2021 at 12:12 AM ^
ESPN isn't the cash cow it used to be for Disney, and there have been rumblings in recent years that Disney may jettison them since most of their value comes from carriage fees from cable packages (streaming fees are significantly lower right now) and those are dwindling. Plus, all those fees they pay to sports leagues are pretty expensive and are only going up.
December 19th, 2021 at 5:17 PM ^
After just subscribing to ESPN+ an hour earlier...
December 19th, 2021 at 5:24 PM ^
ESPN+ wasn’t going to help you much anyway
December 19th, 2021 at 5:20 PM ^
Looks like I'll be celebrating by watching that storied rivalry game...Old Dominion vs Tulsa tomorrow on The Worldwide Leader.
Nice to see them make a big, beautiful deal before any bowl games of consequence happen (considering the games are basically all on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2, save for ~4 games). Glad I decided not to lift a finger for a few more days...
December 19th, 2021 at 5:45 PM ^
No ABC or ESPN on my tv yet.
December 19th, 2021 at 5:54 PM ^
- My daughter missed the biggest win in women’s Bball history so google could make an extra buck. Fuck everyone involved in this bullshit.
