ECU Game is a Maize Out
I apologize if this is known and I'm just living under a rock, but it appears the ECU game is going to be a Maize Out based on the single game ticket link I got in my email this morning (see attached screenshot). I believe you need to enter "Blue" in order to view the single game ticket schedule.
This is news to me! It's a shame we can't have a Maize Out vs a real team, but September when it's still warm is really the only time to do it.
ECU is a real team. Beat ECU!
Looks like that link isn't working. Try this.
Can't handle the anticipation I'm literally shaking rn
The Mighty Purple People Eating Pirates arrrrrrr coming to town!!!
Nike and Jordan really need to get on board with making some more maize outerwear. I've had the same maize Michigan Columbia coat for a decade now. I've got to believe that other people here would also buy maize outerwear for November time. Then we're talking maize out in the cold.
It wasn’t warm at Penn State maize out last year. I have a XXXL $12 maize tee from MDen that fits over pretty much any outerwear now. It’s a pretty easy solution.
Every game is a Maize out
I'm sure the Maize-Out will look great on Peacock /s
Perhaps we all should wear T-shirts that say "Comcast Sucks"
#peacocked
Dont worry there are a couple posters that are fine watching on their 12in work laptops from a hacked feed.
ECU Maize Out, BGSU night game...
*Facepalm*
Seriously…I can reluctantly excuse using the Maize Out on a non-con opponent just due to the need to do it when it’s warmer, but it’s really dumb to do it for the ECU noon game instead of the Bowling Green night game.
I’ve been to Maize Out games vs Nebraska (2018), Penn State (2022), and Washington (2021). Penn State was a good atmosphere due to the stakes/quality of opponent, but the only truly electric atmosphere was Washington. If Michigan wants to make the Maize Out a meaningful thing, they need to prioritize doing it at night, and ideally for an opponent with a pulse
Beware the small(er than M) school teams from North Carolina on season openers. Was in attendance for the one in ‘07 and that shit sucked
but it’s really dumb to do it for the ECU noon game instead of the Bowling Green night game.
I’d think they want to split up the promotions between cupcakes to try and drum up interest in multiple games instead of going all in on one game
It makes more sense to designate it as an early season game. Not sure this team will need that kind of juice to take down the Pirates.
The people online who bitch about people not wearing maize will still be just as annoying.
By halftime it will be a blue seat out.
I was once part of a one fan brown out. Chili dogs were a bad idea and the lines for the bathrooms are too long btw.
It doesn't feel like a Maize Out sort of game on its face, but then these are odd times we live in...
Maybe they should throw in a Brandon Sixer of Coca Cola to further entice people to show up for a game like this.
Call me old school, but I'd rather see us play actual good teams non-conference than the parade of ECU, Incarnate Word, Washtenaw Community College Co-ed Flag Champs, etc.
Agreed, I think the 12 team playoff will allow Michigan to regularly schedule at least one good non conference matchup, so I am hopeful this will be the last season we have to endure the three cupcake preseason.
As much forward as I’m looking to going to this game, I wish it was at night or at least at 3:30. Mostly because the first weekend or two in September is always really stinking hot in Ann Arbor, at least during the day. Fully expect to be sweating my ass off that day.
Wish they’d do 3:30 or night games for the first two weeks and then transition to noon games in late September as it starts getting cooler out.
