Early Votes for Schadenfreude??

Submitted by Wolverine In Exile on
So any early bets on who the Tears of Infinite Sadness will be this week? "Pear Bryant" Charlie Weis and his loss to the Crying Children Orangemen? How about Mark "I can't bring myself to cheer for Michigan even though it means I won't win the conference title and go to the Rose Bowl for the first time in 21 years" D'Antonio getting torched by Emperor Palpatine's bi-colored stormtroopers? Mike Leach and his pirate ways sent to Davy Jones Locker by the Boomer Sooner? LSU Fan with his "2007- We can't let Les go / 2008- Please take him" schizo? So many options, and we don't even have to bring up Michigan this week! This is one week I really look forward to the TWIS... thank God Brian has a multi-conference breakdown.

I would bet that it's ND. Their fans are freaking out over that loss to Syracuse. Did you spell Dantonio wrong as a joke? If yes, please explain.

Getting blown out sucks, but I'd rather lose by 50 to Penn State or Oklahoma than lose by any score to Syracuse. Add that more people hate Notre Dame than either of the others, and Notre Dame fans are a lot more vocal, and this is an easy pick. The Big Ten section could be pretty large, what with four blowouts, an OT win over Cal Poly, and a team going from Rose Bowl to no bowl. Then again, Indiana fans are used to this, most Michigan fans went into wait-until-next-year mode at least a month ago, most MSU fans are ecstatic just to be 9-3, and Wisconsin did somehow escape.

The Huskies might have it over even Notre Dame this week. Just when it looked like they wouldn't go winless, wouldn't be the worst team in the country, and would manage to salvage some in-state bragging rights they blew it in the most heartbreaking way possible.

I'd go with Notre Dame, even though Texas Tech's loss is a lot more relevant. I'm not sure Michigan State deserves to even be a contender; they got beat by a better team, plain and simple. They already exceeded expectations, and it was obvious their coach didn't want to go to the Rose Bowl.
