I've never understood that for football players. Part of me thinks it's in imitation of (far more glamorous) prep-to-pros basketball players.

Did anyone else notice when the Giants players announced themselves in the first offensive series Manningham didn't say his college was Michigan and said something else that I didn't catch, maybe his high school, I don't know which one he went to but I found that odd....

that you had to have actually graduated from the University you attended/played for to say that. Of course, I don't know if David Harris or Jason Avant graduated, but I know Manningham declared for the draft before his senior year.
