drew sharp
I know this has been discussed at length already, but why does Drew Sharp still write? I know it's part of the job when you're a sportswriter to be controversial, to come down hard on prominent figures etc. But Drew Sharp doesn't even seem informed when he pontificates about things like MSU's bowl game, departures from Michigan's program etc. It can be fun to hate opinionated sportswriters who know what they're talking about, but Sharp just seems like an uninformed jerk. To like a writer you have to at least identify with his allegiances etc., but who does Sharp like? Who likes him?

Nobody likes him. His misinformed and idiotic rants serve only to draw hits to the paper's website.

There are two types of writers, the one everyone loves and reads for pleasure, and the one people hate and read just to disagree with and to see what other stupid things they are going to say. I hate Rush Limbaugh, but I listen to him because I am always curious to hear what his new stupid baseless remarks will be.

Do yourself a favor and stop reading the free press. The Detroit News isn't nearly as bad.

Actually, they both suck. The Freep has Drew Sharp, the News has Rob Parker and Lynn Henning. The benefit of the News is that they don't feel like their copy editors are comedians, like the Freep apparently does.

The reason why Drew Sharp writes is because people still click on his articles and read them. There's really no more explanation than that.
