Dr. Manny Harris

Submitted by turbo cool on
Beginning in late August I began suffering from incredible depression. And for whatever reason every Saturday seemed to be the pinnacle for my depression every week, usually between the times of 12-6 pm, roughly. Anyway, without really knowing how to treat this depression that had resulted in waking up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat wondering how it could be so difficult to tackle in the open field or not being able to make a relatively easy pass to any available receiver, I turned to our basketball team which had shown signs of potential last year. Maybe we could be okay this year? Anyway, over the last month my depression has been cured for the most part. I knew Manny Harris was a great talent but he is absolutely killing it (been hitting 3's left and right in this game on vs eastern). Anyways, him and his staff of Sims, Novack, Shephard, etc. have done a lot to make me realize that football at Michigan isn't our only sport. And there is hockey but for right now we're talking basketball. I've always loved Mich bball but we all know how hard the last couple years have been. Anyway, he is the real deal and I can only hope that the hoops squad carries this through the big ten season into the tourney. GO BLUE.

He's going to play at the next level. We got a good chance of making the tourney this year, but our rebounding really concerns me... Out-rebounded by 15 by Eastern at home? This has been a season-long issue as well... This needs to change if we want to keep it going.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've surely read that Beilein's teams, as a result of the 1-3-1 get out-rebounded like nuts, right? Also, the fact that we only have two playable post player probably hurts. The defense is turnover oriented - not so much rebound oriented.

expecting our team to consistently out-rebound teams with superior inside presence, I expect them to perform better than they did today against Eastern. Again, I'm not expecting us to become a rebounding force, but I still think that's an area we could improve upon.

Manny put on a fire-bombing show for sure - but the big players, IMO, were Shepard (carried us in the 1st half when we sucked), and Merritt for hitting two three pointers to close the half.

Yeah rebounding is definitely the biggest concern going forward. We did outrebound Duke at least. One possibility for why it was so bad today was that we played man-to-man the whole game. Probably (hopefully) just an experiment. Our guys might be more used to rebounding from the zone. Of course with their lack of size Michigan is never going to be a great rebounding team, just have to do the best they can and excel in other areas.

my friend and i noticed manny only had 2 in the first half and i'm guessing he noticed too because he came out on fire and pretty much took control of the game

And the only cure, is more Manny. Gotta give it up to Grady today too. He was an offensive force for a few minutes in the first half when we needed one with Manny on the bench.
