Do the losses sting anymore?

Submitted by MGomaha on

I still love this university, program, and team, but I don't feel mad or upset that we lost anymore. Whether or not Michigan won or lost used to dictate my mood for the weekend and into the next week. Now, I'm just ready for the Lions game. It's not that I don't care about losing, but I just feel... used to it.

You guys feeling the same?

Good call by the OP.  Losing and mediocrity have become such a part of the fan experience that I no longer get really pissed anymore when they lose.  I am more pissed that Daivd Brandon still has a job than I am at any individual games anymore.

The only thing keeping these games interesting this year is the anticipation that Hoke in his fourth year could very well equal (or even exceed) the level of ineptitude that Rodriguez achieved in his first.  All he has to do is win one more game, and as God is my witness I'm not sure that's manageable.

I personally have been numbed to losing since The Horror in 2007.  Once that happened I realized that it was as bad as it was ever going to get.  By that time we'd already lost 5 of 6 to Tressel and it was becoming pretty obvious that having NFL-caliber talent on the roster wasn't making the difference that was needed to beat an otherwise equally talented team that had the benefit of having a really good head coach.  The Horror was enough to prove that the talent factor didn't even matter anymore.

Not for me. I still cheer the good plays but I've fortunately managed to largely tune out the bad. That said I was beside myself when the refs botched the Darboh call

I have clearly moved from the realm of being super-pissed/depressed about losses, where my mood lasts until about Wednesday, to not letting losing get to me.  Wins were so common that I never really appreciated them (and boy am I sorry for that).  Now, I just pray for not being too embarrassed on the field (like last night - we played OK) and no injuries.  A huge win over MSU or OSU this year will cause ecstasy the likes only matched by UTL I, the '98 Rose Bowl and a handful of other games over the years.

Note:  I have not read the rest of the posts in this thread, and so I apologize if I am regurgitating an already-established psyche.
