Dispatch blog recaps osu game. yes sugarcoat. sugarcoat out of control.
Blogger for the Columbus Dispatch puts a hell of a twist on the bucks' squeaker against Navy. Wonder if the Ann Arbor news or freep would act similarly if a Rod-coached team were to switch places with osu.

I will be forwarding all of Freeps writer's resumes to the Columbus Dispatch when Freep goes belly up. It would be funny from the other side of the fence.

They come close to losing one they shouldn't in their non-conference schedule.

I'm wondering if any of you even watched the OSU game or just saw the final score. Pryor looked much improved as a passer, stayed in the pocket well and used his feet only when he had to. OSU's offense moved the ball pretty much at will, but Tressel played conservative once they got the lead. As for the D, Navy's triple option offense would put up numbers on our D too, and two late TD's were really the big difference.

Seriously. Also, Navy has some really good 1st stringers. In the beginning of the year, when they are mostly healthy, they can compete with a lot of teams. It's not just OSU who is susceptible, but many teams who play physical mid/low tier teams. When you get these teams later in the year is when they become truly cupcake-ish, when injuries have set in. Navy hits hard and isn't shy from taking a hit back, either.

I only saw bits and pieces, but the box score doesn't suggest a convincing OSU performance. For one thing, the score was just 20-14 going into the fourth quarter, so I can't quite buy that OSU just took its foot off the gas. But beyond that, the two teams finished with the same number of first downs, and Navy significantly outperformed OSU on 3rd downs (going 8-12 compared to just 3-12 for OSU). OSU averaged only four yards a carry against a smallish defense, and had only one offensive play longer than 20 yards. That doesn't sound like a team moving the ball at will.
