Detroit bidding to host CFB tltle games at Ford Field
Detroit is joining the list of cities bidding to host the CFB Championship games in 2018-2020. I hope they get one. Home field advantage for Michigan in the title game would be great. Also, it's close to my house
As a Detroit native, I would love to see the CFP title game in Detroit. Also, the homefield advantage would be great for Michigan.
...play the title game in Detroit would probably be fun :)
Since the CFB NCG is played in the first two weeks of January, and the NA Int'l Auto Show is typically right around that time, seems to me that it might be a shit show for football fans trying to get last minute hotel rooms during that period. I believe most of the 'quality' hotel rooms in the downtown are sold out, especially for the first few days of the NAIAS and during press week.
Would the NA Int'l Auto show consider pushing their event back a week to not suck up all the downtown hotels? Should Detroit win this bid, that would have to be coordinated, or else each would have a major impact the other.
would move the auto show if they had to. GM is headquartered like 6 blocks away from Ford Field and if Detroit does get a CFB title game it will probably be thanks in no small part to the auto company executives.
They are about 7-10 days apart. They wouldn't overlap. Detroit wouldnt try if they did overlap.
If the city can host a Super Bowl and a Final Four, it can certainly host the CFP title game.
