Compared with the past, how loud is the Big House this year?

Haven't had an opportunity to make it to Michigan Stadium this year, so I was wondering. How much louder is the stadium with how well the team has played thus far. (I remember Chris Spielman pointing out how much louder it is.) DISCUSS

The Northwestern game exceeded all other games  in my history (which goes back as far as 1968) for a game that was really decided early. My section stood on almost all 3rd downs and the noise level was great.

The loudest I have heard is still UTL 1. I agree with the Nebraska 2011 game as being really up there (and the best of the non OSU-ND-MSU games).

I think Harbaugh says it best...

“Again, the question asks to compare, and I have a thing with that. Comparing this game to that game, or more physical to less physical; seems something always gets diminished when you start talking that way.”

The energy this season has been tremendous. I've had the pleasure of being at the Oregon State and Maryland games, and both times the crowds were totally stoked to be there, even in the rain at Maryland (which felt so much like a Big House crowd that I kept forgetting I wasn't in A2). Really upset to not be able to be at the Sparty game, but we'll try to be loud enough at the Michigan bar in DC for everyone in the Big House to hear us. :)

Will be at the Rutgers game, though ... hoping we can keep the energy up even then, when we'll clearly be 7-1. :)

I was at the Northwestern game and while it was BEAUTIFUL, it strangely didn't feel THAT different from past games.  And I've been going to at least 2 a year since 1996.  But keep in my mind that I was in a combination of shock and bliss that my usual senses may have felt altered.  The last seven years have left me with PTSD and I still, at times, keep waiting to have my heart ripped out.  So when your team comes out and plays...like that...you're in a completely different world.

The luxury boxes really do a good job of holding the sound in.

And since people have been mentioning past loud games, if you want to revisit a non-rivalry, pre-luxury boxes game at the big house, go back and watch the 2000 Wisconsin game.  The crowd was on fire all day long.  And when Henson threw that prayer across his body to David Terrell in the back of the end zone, it was probably as loud as it ever was.

I think loudness might be hard to compare but I have not felt an energy quite like there was on Saturday. The crowd was as loud as either of the UTL games. I commented to some people by me that I havent been to a Mich game where they were blowing out an opponent 31-0 (at the time) in the fourth quarter and I looked around the stadium and it looked like 90% of the stadium was standing. For those that were not there the DEFENSE chant with 1:30 left in the game was not a chant to play good defense for one last play it was done in honor of the defensive domination this team has shown the last four weeks. It was really awesome.

From start to finish, Saturday was the loudest non-rivalry game I can think of.  The crowd was amped from the get-go and the Chesson return took it to another level, which it maintained.

I also thought that BYU was a very good crowd for a noon kickoff.  Of course the 31-0 first half helped.

Saturday the Big House was rocking I had goose pimples for half that game.  The other half I was standing & screaming like a madman like everyone else!  Most fun I've had at a Michigan game.
