According to the UM salary register, Rodriguez gets $300,000 a year from the University.
At least for the public schools, probably the contract language itself (via FOIA)? Doesn't RichRod's compensation include salary plus money for television appearances, bonuses, etc.? We know he makes more than $300K a year.
I'm not sure where they get the salary figures for the private schools.
Nick Saban is paid 225,000 to coach football and 3,500,000 for other services such as TV and interviews. Plus a little fringe.
And? What's your point?
on who is overpaid (i.e. Weis) and who is underpaid (i.e. Leach) and all points in between.
You probably should have put that in the first post.
Is this plus benefits and bonuses?
No I believe R.R. makes around 5 million with bonuses, tv etc.

This is definitely total compensation.
seems ridiculous. This kind of pay should be all about performance. I see no problem with Carroll, but Jabba the Hut as a strong number 2 blows me away, has anyone done LESS with top-level talent in the country?
That's why Weis is gone after this year if Notre Dame and it's finally matured talent stumbles.
This is why they should have fired him last year...this year he's got a cupcake schedule and a senior-laden team and might pull out a respectable year. Then they're stuck with him for a few more shitty years.
On the other hand if they're mediocre or worse no one will be able to complain when they forklift him out the door...
Ironically, his huge contract is probably what has kept him from getting fired. His buyout is so big, that although they don't want to pay 4mil/year for a guy doing a mediocre job, they also don't want to pay 4mil/year to a guy who is no longer their coach, when they'd have to pay close to that much for his replacement. If Chuckles was making 2 mil a year he likely would have been canned after last season.
When Weis was initially hired at ND, I wondered why we couldn't get someone like him at UM. His speech made it sound like ND would be back on top soon. I remember him saying something like "not good enough" a lot, and it seemed like his no-nonsense approach would quickly take ND to their old level. If he was that great in front of the cameras, he must have been even better in interviews.
So, from ND's POV, they were hiring THE coach who would lead them back to the promised land, and it was worth paying him more than anyone else was making if they had to. It retrospect, a lot of coaches owe Weis a note of thanks for driving their salaries so high.
At this point, though, Weis has demonstrated that his true potential will be met next year, when he doesn't have a coaching job anymore and can have his choice of buying a chain of Stacey's, Golden Corral, Bonanza, or whatever other all-you-can-eat franchises are out there.
I can see him making a big leap forward in a year or so.
He could easily double, maybe triple his current salary at a bigger program.
Spurrier also gets a membership to Augusta National with that $1,800,000 salary. That's a lot of Pro-V 1's. He also gets a free loft condo next to Williams-Brice that he doesn't use ($450,000 condo). How do I know this? My wife is a Gamecock.
I had no idea Kirk Ferentz was so highly paid
kirk ferentz = overpaid.
He wouldn't stay at Iowa if he wasn't overpaid. I'd like to see you try and convince players to come to Iowa. That's not an easy task. Ferentz has been getting looks from the NFL for years.
Lane Kiffin is still the most overpaid coach on that list, in my opinion. I may not have all the information but, as far as I can tell, Lane has no proven ability as a head coach. In fact, he seems to have little proven ability to function as an adult...
Time will tell but he's very inexperienced. He moved up the USC coaching ladder very quickly then received an NFL offer from a man with alzheimers. Hopefully Lane can recruit or he's screwed.
It seems as though he can recruit, at least fairly well. Whether he can coach or not is another story. He might end up like Weis, a guy who puts a ton of talent on the field but still loses football games.
I think Weis and Kiffin have both bought first class tickets aboard the clueless train.
What do these millionaire coaches spend their money on? Shit, they work 18 hours a day. Then they sleep. They must save that stuff away and have one easy, breezy retirement.

During the season, coaches' jobs are horrific, but I would imagine that things get a little easier during the off-season. I'd be curious to know what their hours are like during the summer.
New question. How much of Mangino's salary goes towards food?
I'm going with 1/3.
A guys got to eat right?
If another school ever tries to lure him away it won't be hard. Throw in a life time membership for pizza hut and you have yourself a head football coach.
