Citrus Bowl Ticket Advice

Submitted by KC Wolve on December 9th, 2019 at 11:35 AM

Heading to Orlando with the family to get out of winter for a bit. I’ve actually never attended a bowl game and am curious regarding the best way to purchase tickets. I can’t imagine it will be terribly difficult, but wanted to get opinions. Should I wait until the day of or before and grab off the street, should I lock in before hand, etc? I know this is mostly speculative, but I wanted to get some thoughts.

thanks

Have fun, I have found on Stub Hub they're two sweet spots.  Normally 24-16 hours before the game tickets will be low.  Also the last hour is a hit or miss, you can get some great deals.  What I do is set my price limit.  If I get them a week/day or hour before the game I am good.

As of this moment, tickets in the Mich sections are still available thru mgoblue.com. The other option is thru ticketmaster (higher fees). Or if you don't mind speculating, cheaper tickets will surely be available on the day of the game. Have bought and sold tickets at the Citrus Bowl in this manner in the past. Good luck!

Bowl games are fun and seating choices, IMO, are as follows:

If you want good seats and dont care who you sit with buy in the secondary market.  Every bowl game I've done this I've ended up surrounded, more or less, by the other team's fan base but my views to the game itself were great.

If seating isn't as important but you want to be among MIchigan faithful then buy from the University.  You'll pay more (bowl tickets are almost always discounted from face value on resale) but you'll definitely be sitting with friendly M faces.

After getting screwed by the M ticket office with terrible seats for multiple bowl games, I now use the secondary market (StubHub) exclusively.  Why spend all the time and money to go to a bowl game and end up with crappy seats?  The only exception would be if want to know for sure you are sitting in a Michigan section, but to me, it's not that important.

Also, unsolicited advice about the Alumni Association tailgates.  I have sworn off them, too.  Overcrowded and overpriced.  Yes to pep rallies however - generally fun, and free to attend.

See you in Orlando...

Everyone below has good advice. I have 3 things to offer:

1. If you plan to tailgate near the stadium, get as close as possible. It's not a great area.

2. Swing buy the official Michigan hotel AFTER the game and you will get GREAT deals on gear. I got a couple of nice tees for $10/each.

3. Check and see if the stadium is still under construction. A couple of years ago for the Michigan-Florida game the North EZ (by the lake) were under construction and concessions/restrooms were a nightmare.

Hey, related question. I have a 6yo and a 3.5yo. Do you recommend bringing them to this game (we'll be on vacation in Orlando). As we live in Europe I have no idea when the next chance will be to get the kiddos to a Michigan game. But I've heard access is shaky without a parking pass, and if you're saying the area is not great to boot, should I pass on this one and wait until they're older?

Regardless of what you do with game tickets, I'd suggest getting a parking pass in advance.  Well in advance.  I went to the game four years ago and waited too long to buy an official parking pass, so ended up searching for very limited parking on game day.  We ended up behind a chicken restaurant (or something like that) with about six total parking spots.  Do yourself a favor....buy parking early.

I ordered through the University ticket office.  Seat location is a crap shoot.  I've been given good tickets to the Rose Bowl and Outback Bowl but our Orange Bowl tickets were for shit.  Another benefit of buying through the University is that it helps sell the ticket allotment which makes us more desirable to the bowls for future bowl selections.  Also they may have a guarantee.

I also think it depends on how many tickets you need.  I’m not taking my family of 4 to an event I’m hoping to score tickets the day of.

I would not recommend the upper deck at Camping World,  the P level is not bad.
