CFB: Week 10 Schedule - Key Matchups - what will you watch / follow?

Submitted by Amazinblu on October 30th, 2023 at 11:03 AM

November is here, and week ten of the college football season awaits us with four games involving Top 25 ranked matchups.

Big Noon Kickoff will be in Austin for Kansas State v Texas, while Game Day will be in Tuscaloosa for LSU’s game against Bama.

The games that are of interest to me with the team’s AP ranking noted in parentheses are:

Saturday:

  • Kansas State (25) at Texas (7) – noon:  The loser is almost assuredly out of the Big 12 race.  Will Ewers play?
  • Notre Dame (12) at Clemson (NR) – noon:  Will you root for: a) Dabo / Clemson, b) ND, or, c) the Meteor?
  • Missouri (14) at Georgia (1) – 3:30 pm:  Despite Bowers being out, it seems like a huge uphill battle for Mizzou.
  • Oklahoma (10) at Oklahoma State (26) – 3:30 pm:  Is this the last “Bedlam” for a while?
  • Washington (5) at USC (24) – 7:30 pm:  Will the word “defense” be used much?
  • LSU (13) at Alabama (8) – 7:45 pm:  Prior to the season I had LSU in this one.  Let’s see what happens.
  • Purdue (NR) at Michigan (2) – 7:30 pm: It’s Parents weekend in Ann Arbor – Go Blue!

Other B1G games: Which games will impact the Wild, Wild – Wide Open – West race?

  • Ohio State (3) at Rutgers (33) – noon, CBS: Go Scarlet Knights.
  • Penn State (9) at Maryland (NR) – 3:30 pm, Fox: What can Tua do?
  • Nebraska (NR) at Michigan State (NR) – noon, FS1: Nebraska winning its fourth in a row would be nice to see - Ruhle seems like a solid coach.
  • Wisconsin (NR) at Indiana (NR) – noon, BTN
  • Illinois (NR) at Minnesota (NR) – 3:30 pm, BTN
  • Iowa (NR) at Northwestern (NR) – 3:30 pm – played at Wrigley Field, Peacock

Slippery Rock travels to Edinboro and kicks off at noon.

I don't have many horses in these races.  I'll be in Ann Arbor and looking forward to seeing the team's focus.

The thought of Clemson losing it's fifth game this season or cheering on the meteor - isn't easy.  In the SEC: an LSU win in Tuscaloosa - and Mizzou win in Athens would make me smile.  While in the Big 12: Kansas State defeating Texas and Oklahoma State defeating the Sooners  would add to the "farewell" season as two teams get ready to join the SEC next year.

Which game(s) are you interested in?   Which will you watch?   Do you think anything unexpected will happen?

Enjoy.  Go Blue!

Slim - I like the way you think.  I'm also a huge fan of meteors - and, am wondering if you have any "inside connections" to people at either the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Department of Energy's NNSA (National Nuclear Security Association) Planetary Defense, or NASA's PDCO (Planetary Defense Coordination Office).

If one could influence an asteroid's direction - you have identified some excellent targets.

My buddies and I have gone to several random college football games over the years. One year we decided to go to the bedlam game in Stillwater. It was Baker Mayfield vs Rudolph.

We always throw in $100 each for a game bet. We decided on the over, even though it was 76.5. But it's also the big 12, so...

Both teams couldn't snap the ball fast enough, and there was basically zero defense at all. It was tremendous. The score at halftime was 38-38, missing the over by a hook. We figured they'd at least kick a FG for our win in the 2nd half.

Final score was 62-52, Baker came away with the win.

haha that's amazing. great trip report.

and love the idea of going to random games. on spring break trips, my UM buddies and i would always go to random college hoops games and even high school hoops. we became big fans of Southwest Texas St (now Texas State). Love the Big House and Crisler but always neat to get a feel for other teams, rivalries, stadiums, fan bases, etc.

Yeah, I have a long list of college football stadiums and adding to it most years. I really enjoy experiencing new game day atmospheres.

Speaking of random basketball games. I just happened to be in London visiting a friend for the first time last December so was able to see our game against Kentucky.

Looking forward to seeing you, @Amazinblu, and roughly 107,500 of my closest friends in Ann Arbor this weekend--making the annual pilgrimage to visit my bank account, I mean Ed. '25 daughter. Bringing the girlfriend to her first-ever Michigan game. She's a Ute. Guys, a 7:30 pm start, in November? Oy.

College football upsets are one of the best parts of this sport. Kansas over Oklahoma this weekend was so joyful. I can only wish the same joy for the long-suffering people of Piscataway this weekend. Go Scarlet Knights.

Only in reference to its complete lack of existence.

In the Big-10: OSU @ Rutgers could be close. Rutgers is 6-2, maybe no cake walk for the Bucs.

Wisc @ IN; we'll the Hoosiers gave Penn Sate all they could handle while on the road, Indiana could take Wisc into the final minutes. I'm rooting for the Hoosiers.

Neb could make a bowl bid if they beat the hapless spartans. Go Cornhuskers!

Penn Sate at MD, looks like 4th consec loss for the Terps, unless they can wake up.

The Illini are playing better and could upset the inconsistent Gophers.

Low scoring IA could lose to the surging NW Wildcats: Go 'Cats.

Michigan rolls (at least) 52-0. Am looking for a second consec shutout. Our guys are really pissed off!

High scoring WA @ USC, is the O/U at least 100 points?

'Bama beats the Fighting Brian Kelly's LSU squad.

GA won't lose but it shouldn't be a blowout.
