CC - Open Thread: Michigan Football's D-Day

Submitted by profitgoblue on
This thread is for those of you that are like me and have been even less productive over the past several hours due to the apparent(?) breaking CC news. Please yell, swear, wager bets, or whatever the MODs will allow below for some cathartic relief. Maybe we can avoid multiple threads? I'll start:

If the Free Press and those two a--holes, Snyder and Rosenberg, end up being wrong, I am going to write a letter to their editor, CEO of the organization that runs that rag, and the POTUS if I have to in order to get those F-ers fired. This is beyond unacceptable and borders on actionable defamation.

Send Snyder and Rosenberg your thoughts using that handy link at the bottom of the article that goes to their email. It made me feel better to do that, calling them out for their preposterous remark that there were "5 major violations," under RR... Try one, and he was cleared as innocent by the NCAA for it. Now that was defamation in my eyes!

You used a more factual argument than that. There were 4 "major" violations, 1 was taken back (of the 5). They found that the serious one, the lack of control wasn't the case, but they did enforce the other 4 minor ones.

Been following this all day and Rosenberg's gone from Harbaugh's not coming to he is coming and back to it's highly unlikely. Then he and Snyder reported RR was fired only to switch that the decision has been made to fire him (also not true since DB hadn't publicized that and of he did, it wouldn't be to them). How does the rest of the MSM not see that these guys are buffoons? They're an absolute disgrace to the journalism profession.
As for the CC situation, I'm trying very hard to trust DB knows what he's doing but he's making it very difficult to do that right now.

FOX 2's Ryan Ermanni learned from a source that a tug of war was playing out Monday between Brandon and boosters regarding the head coaching position. The source told Ermanni that Brandon "wants/loves" Hoke and that boosters would prefer Harbaugh.

Are wrong? You could have written that letter months ago. They've been wrong for awhile.

But I too would like my week back because between an actual game, CC, and the bowls I can't get off of this site. My dvr, reading stack, and other free time activities (and chores) are backing up something fierce.

What's sad is that they were proven wrong on him being fired already, but everyone still believes the freep because they have a "source" who said that harbaugh didn't wanna come here...I mean I dont understand how espn can buy any of the sh-t they spit out

My thought on what is going down. We swung and missed on Harbaugh. Now Brandon has no other viable option other than hoke to replace RR. Figures it's not worth it and is bringing RR back with new defensive staff. This is the delay. They conjure up a list together of potential candidates. Break the meeting and DB starts making calls. Tomorrow DB praises RR for his offense and both recognize changes had to be made on defense. They unveil a new staff and DB crosses his fingers that this will appease the Michigan faithful. Or not?

Post. Even if you think Rich should be gone, it's being handled poorly. Dragging it out. I guess if you can leave him hanging for a month, you probably don't give a crap about a week. And if he's now brought back, I would hope even those that most wanted him gone could agree that if he were to return, it would have been better to get it out of the way a month ago.

If he's afraid of being inconsistent. Saying one thing but doing another. He's said all along that evaluations are held after the season and that's exactly what's happening. Problem is that these situations are too dynamic to be inflexible. That's all assuming he wasn't going after anyone until after the bowl game.

I still cannot fathom just how much speculation and stuff has been thrown around over the last 24 hours without a SINGLE word coming from DB or JH.

So many scenarios, tweeds, reports, sources, etc but if people would simply wait to hear from one of these two people less money would be wasted on medication/alcohol.

One of the theories that has been thrown out there has got to be true. The only way that DB shows that he has complete lockdown over the department is if something right off the wall happens that NOBODY expects. If the end result is RR, JH or BH as our coach then I can't think of any scenario that has not been beaten to death by us or the MSM.

Nothing has happened since yesterday other than DB and RR have met. That's it. I'm sure calls have been made to JH and perhaps Hoke, but every piece of news is just a rumor.

If we all do make it through tomorrow without a hoke hiring and assuming normal posting on the site returns, I think mgostore should definitely make commemorative "I survived" t shirts.

Since this board doesn't have much else to do until more information comes out (tomorrow?), presuming for a moment that Rich is fired, what other realistic candidates are there that we would be happy with? I'm curious to hear any thoughts, even outside the box ones (plz no Stoops/Meyer/Saban wet dreams). Unlike 3 years ago when there were at least a several pretty good candidates (Miles, Schiano, Kelly, Ferentz) the zeitgeist this year seems like it's Harbaugh or bust. That said there has to be SOMEONE else besides Mr Hoke. Since he was passed up for the Florida job, what about Dan Mullen (ytdm)? Only 38, with success/recruiting cred in the Southeast, and he's from Pennsylvania originally. Maybe a bit unrealistic, but it's the best I could come up with. What've you guys got?

(Brian mentioned Pat Fitzgerald, but he seem pretty meh - marginally successful in B10, probably unlikely to move in-conference)

We are presumably going to fire a coach after 3 years. A coach who was trying to change schemes. The new coach will no doubt be trying to do the same. He, knowing it takes longer than 3 years to do this, might think the fan base is too impatient and stay put. Michigan has a lot going for it but a lot going against it as well.

"In early August, the day spring practice was to start, the Free Press published a report outlining sophomore quarterback-turned-wide receiver Justin Feagin's principal role in a botched drug deal that ended with Feagin setting a student's dorm room on fire.

Rodriguez said he didn't know and immediately kicked Feagin off the team. But it was a major distraction at the start of practice."
