CC: Denver/Elway to contact Harbaugh
[Ed-M: Thumped to boards.]
So during the NFL pre-game show it was mentioned that John Elway has been hired by the Broncos for a front office position. Furthermore, they said his first business would be contacting JH. Being a Stanford alum, and now NFL executive (in some sort), it looks like Elway likes what he has seen from Stanford and wants Harbaugh in Denver next season. This seems to be a great situation in comparison to other NFL teams looking for a coach, a team with a solid QB in Kyle Orton, a future QB (MAYBE) in Tim Tebow.
Also a weak division where with a little turn around could be a playoff team. This reall worries me for a potential Michigan Head Coach. I have been a RR supporter, and don't know how he can survive yesterday, but I do know that I don't want to have to go through another coaching change in 3-5 years because Harbaugh goes to the NFL. I also do not want Brady Hoke, IMO he just hasn't proven enough in small conferences to boot. I liked what Gary Patterson's TCU team yesterday. Very multiple on offense and a "small" but very athletic fast D that completely shut down Wisconsin. I would really like others opinions, this is my first diary entry so please critique and try not to neg bomb me if you disagree.

" it looks like Elway likes what he has seen from Stanford and wants Elway in Denver next season." Elway wants "Harbaugh" in Denver next season.

"but I do know that I don't want to have to go through another coaching change in 3-5 years because Harbaugh goes to the NFL."
I understand flight risk, but isn't this like saying you'd rather date an ugly chick than date a hot woman who might break up with you for another guy?

So, topher, are you calling RR an "ugly chick" and JH a "hot woman?"

Depends which one you are talking about:

Rather, it's the cute girl you have now who's a little overweight but who's been losing weight steadily (with a few binges intermixed).
Still might be worth it to upgrade to the hot chick, but I think in that analogy, Brady Hoke is the ugly chick.
And I'd like to also say that it's not IF the hot chick will break up with you for the richer guy, but WHEN. Harbaugh ain't gonna be here for 10 years. Either he gets fired because he's flamed out, or he'll have succeeded and moved on to the NFL.

Hoke is the Fat chick in this scenario. Eager

Not only is this NOT a diary, rather just a normal post for the board, it was also covered on the board a few hours ago.

Thank you for this. As a U-M and Cleveland Browns fan, this picture is about as much as I've had to laugh about in a couple of days...

bad form, man.
January 2nd, 2011 at 6:14 PM ^
I would like to reiterate that this is not a diary and should be just a normal post. It's absolutely okay to make mistakes, a mod can move this to the board, just please learn for next time.

How do I request for this to be moved, I honestly thought I was posting to the board and not to the diary section until it was already posted.

Don't worry, the hard working mods will take care of it for you.

worst diary ever. You have been a member here for 7 weeks and you thought this was a good idea??
edit: mistakes will be made. Although this is compounded by the fact that this was already a topic on the board.

Holy shit leave the guy alone it was an accident.

If Harbaugh has success here, assuming he is the coach here, and decides to move on to the NFL, then it would be no different than when Bo retired. You insert his top assistant as head coach and keep the ball rolling.

It didn't work for State after Saben jumped ship. We've had pretty good luck with assistants after Bo, but it's not always a guarantee. Especially if he leaves only after 3-5 years, it gives a small sample size as to whether the assistant can acutally cut it as an effective leader. Hopefully if JH comes here, his ties to the program will keep him here for the long haul.

I agree. It is a bit of a crapshoot and it helps if the coach has been there a while. Maybe UM would pull a Florida and go completely out of the program's family? It just seems the most likely way, were it to happen in that manner.

It didn't work for State after Saben jumped ship.
MSU also made the incredibly dumb decision to promote a guy with no head coaching or coordinating experience (Bobby Williams) to the head job. I would hope we wouldn't do likewise.

It's telling me I can't post a thread, only a diary. I dn't know what's going on.

You don't have enough points to start a thread. For some reason, there is no point threshold for diaries.
