Noon starts dampen the grilling spirit for me. Thanks Fox. I am likely going to do another season where I DVR all the noon starts, turn my phone off, and then put them on at 3:30 so I can watch and grill in my heavily preferred time slot.

So you're saying noon kicks suck and you prefer night-ish games. Seems legit. Me too...

Yes. 3:30 is the best start in football, and the one that has been all but eliminated for us the last couple of years.

I agree. I gotta drink during Michigan games and being sloshed by 3 sucks.

speak for yourself
when I lived in Cali I'd get up at 7am and start firing beers down as fast as possible (have a stein that holds a 6 pack) so I could have a good buzz by the 9am PST kickoff of Michigan games.
Besides, can't be drunk all day unless you start early.

So you can imagine how us west coasters feel about 9AM starts. Booooooo. I have to set my alarm if I stay out late Friday night. Setting an alarm to watch football isn't a good thing.
But still Go Blue!

As a fellow West Coaster, I actually enjoy the 9am starts. It brings a feeling of childhood nostalgia and being excited to wake up early Saturday morning to watch cartoons. The only downside is if I have work on the weekend, a night name is better. But a 9am start is still better than a 12:30pm start, imo.

West Coast fandom is the best.
CFB games start at 9am and you can still have an evening out with your significant other after the primetime games end. Or...you know, watch some Pac12 after dark. (TM)

I like games on at 9AM, just not my team. The late night Pac12 games are great.
I'm just not a morning person so afternoon games are great.

Those are pretty, but are simply straight up grills. Sure I grill, but bbq is where it's at.

I also have a Green egg and an Arizona BBQ vertical smoker. Game day is pork butt on the Egg

I did the old traditional low and slow stick smoker for years and turned out some unbelievable bbq. Then I got a pellet smoker and life changed lol. Nothing better than setting it and walking away. I’m now so lazy I just set an alarm to notify on my phone when the temp gets where I want it so I don’t have to get or wake up.

I BBQ'd some steak the other day...

I’m throwing a Costco brisket on the Traeger around 8 tonight, when it hits an internal temp of 160 I’ll wrap it in foil. The whole time spraying it with apple cider vinegar every few hours. Should be done around 10 or so and I’ll wrap it towels and keep it in a cooler till we feel like eating it. No Stubbs btw. I’ve tried several flavors and have come to the conclusion the stuff sucks. Cashmans bbq sauce if anyone wants it on the side. I’m pretty sure the wife is making homemade deep dish pizza tomorrow night so I’ll be at the gym all day Sunday.

For this game several quarts of homemade Bloody Mary's and a Cajun breakfast hash. Hot and fast smoked a small pork butt in the 14.5" Weber Smokey Mountain on the top grate with the bowl removed and all of the vents wide open and cooked the rest of the hash in the Weber 26.75" kettle in a cast iron pot. The cubed potatoes were cooked directly on the grate, indirect until they had color on the outside and were then added to the pot with the Holy Trinity, salt/cayenne/homemade hot sauce, andouille and chorizo and a little chicken stock and a bay leaf in directly on the grill (no lid for the pot but with the lid on for the grill). The pulled pork was added to the rest of the hash at the end of the cook. I'm not sure what the rest of the tailgaters are bringing to this one.
