Burke's son / MiamiU Hockey

Submitted by TorontoBlue on
This story is getting lots of play locally. I give Burke tons of credit and have adjusted my negative opinion of him based on the way he's handled this with his son. Some good insights into Miami's hockey culture as well: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?columnist=buccigross_john&i… http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/players-react-to-burkes-story/art… GO BLUE!

BUT HE'S GAY. HOW COULD BE POSSIBLY FUNCTION AS A TEAM MANAGER WHEN HE'S FOCUSED ON THOSE RIPPLING MUSCLES AND SWEATY BODIES?! end sarcasm.

Thanks for sharing. It was a good read. Now, cue the people who say "why do gay people have to announce it to the world? We don't want to hear about what goes on in your bedroom." Hopefully, more people have the guts that Burke's son has...it will usher in an era where all the miserable closeted athletes out there can stop living in fear.

I've been following this story since it broke. I've honestly been impressed by most of the reactions here in Toronto, Burke's popularity has risen dramatically. Brendan is extremely brave. Good for the Miami U hockey players and program for supporting him and I wish him luck at finding a job in the NHL after law school.

Great story and I can say I have always (for a strange reason I can't really explain) liked Brian Burke. This gives me a reason to like him and respect him as a person as well. If I were his son, I would think I would have had a difficult time telling him if I was gay as well. Well done Brendan!
