Bubble Watch - Wake Forest Potentially Out

Submitted by TrueBlue2003 on March 9th, 2022 at 4:59 PM

Wake Forest just lost to Boston College in overtime of the 2nd round of the ACC tourney.  That's their second q3 loss.  They only have one q1 win.  I don't see how they make the tourney.

Huge news for the bubble as it likely opens up a spot for SMU/VCU/BYU.

Not many other bubble relevant games today, but Xavier probably needs a win against Butler and they're up early in that one.

We're rooting for Nebraska against Northwestern for SoS purposes and in the hopes they move to top 135 which moves the road game at Nebraska to the all important Q2 quadrant (outside chance a blowout by Northwestern moves them into top 75 which makes that home game Q2).

Blowout by PSU could likewise move them to top 75 which would make that game a q1.

Root against K State, Oregon, Fresno St. to help the aforementioned teams get to top 75.

Root for Seton Hall as they're almost to top 30 (making that game q1).

I did cheat.  It was 7 points with 10 seconds and I was getting impatient so I went for it and then Wake hit a three and I was like uh oh, ha.

I should have just let you @True Blue 9 have it as the designated daily bubble watch poster.

Seems unlikely to me that Xavier would be a threat to Michigan, as they have the same record vs Q1 opponents with no Q1A wins to Michigan's 3, to go with their losing conference record (in a worse conference no less).

IMO, no one is a threat to Michigan at this point.  They're in.

I just like bubble chaos and think if Xavier loses, they could be out.  They're also a threat to move ahead of Michigan on the seed line if they win a couple so I'd rather they lose.

Also rooting for LaVall Jordan although I can't imagine he survives this season.

@TrueBlue2003 rooting for LaVall as well, but these last two years have been rough unfortunately. He's someone who was really hurt by the tournament cancellation in 2020, as a run there would've give him more leeway. He is an alum though, and they've at least been injury-plagued competitive losers. Butler is a proud program that hasn't fired a coach since the 80s though so they are certainly yearning for success.
