Blake Sims commits to Alabama
Quarterback Blake Sims has verbally committed to Alabama one day after receiving an offer from the Tide, reports Rivals affiliate BamaOnline.com.
Just a few weeks ago ESPN (ha!) was reporting that the rumor around the high school was Sims was leaning towards Michigan.
Yup. That blows.
I would say that with the QBs we have and will probably have next year and the years to come he did not want to compete for the job. I do not know how Bama is sitting for QBs but I do not think they have the amount of dual threat QBs. I think this was John Parker Wilson's last year (maybe wrong there not sure) so that would mean that he has the ability to come in and compete right away where at UM he would probably have to redshirt and then compete with Devin (who has the better build for the job) for the chance to start. Good luck to the kid.
A few people on the Scout board said that other schools were recruiting Sims as a wide receiver (I know that was the deal with Christian Green, didn't know about Sims). Scout has him listed as a safety. I wonder what position Alabama recruited him for.
He's going in as a QB with the understanding that he could switch to DB if it doesn't pan out.
