Battle 4 Atlantis - Anyone going? Travel arrangements?
So I'm looking at going to the Battle 4 Atlantis and I was wondering if anyone on the blog was going and had found a well-priced option to get there. I checked through the hotel and they estimated $6200 for 2 adults and 2 kids for an airfare/hotel combo. The fact that the tourney is over the Thanksgiving holiday probably jacks up the airfare price. Any thoughts? Is there a UM affiliate chartering a plane out of DTW/AA?

A cost saving tip - those who have gone or are planning a trip may already know this, but the Atlantis is pretty expensive! They have about 5 different places to stay all at different prices, but even the most basic accomodations are not cheap. Right across the street is a Comfort Suites Inn, and the rooms are neat, clean, basic, and cheaper than the Atlantis, but the great thing is that you have full privileges at the Atlantis for all the activities as if you were an Atlantis resident including to have items billed to your room. I have done both, but for the money I will be going back to the Comfort Suites next time we go, and they also have a complimentary breakfast in the morning.

I also have friends who were there about a month ago and said be prepared to spend money. Everything at the resort is supper over priced. Personally I'm more interested in traveling out to see island and outside of the resort than the attractions there.

In my job I travel the world and stay at 4 and 5 star resorts worldwide..I dont pay) Im there working anywhere from 7 days to 7 weeks..Ive been to Atlantis many times..I hate it..overcrowded and WAY overpriced. You really feel like you are getting ripped off there..not worth what you are paying..The Comfort Inn route or a condo is DEFINITELY the way to go...For what you pay at the Atlantis you can get a nice place someother resort further off and drive in or boat in for the games.
As for airfare you might want to check Southwest out of Atlanta...they generally have the lowest fares to Nassau...You might have to book a sep tk to Atlanta though depending on where u live and if SW flies in and out ...

I've been there twice with my family. If you stay at Atlantis, the food prices will kill you, but there's a Quiznos just outside the resort at the bottom of the hill. We ate breakfast there every morning. Saved a ton. There's also a great local bar right nearby called the Green Parrot that has reasonably priced (and good) local food.

While they've not yet announced anthing (that I'm aware of), typically the Alumni Association does a trip package for these typ of events. Usually, it's coordinated and managed by Conlin Travel. I've gone on them before - most recently to the Puerto Rico Tip Off. The whole trip was great. They arrange for all the important details in addition to stuff like being at the welcome banquet, etc. Access and proximity to the team are pretty impressive as well. I shared drinks with coaches, dined with players and their families and basically felt that much closer to the program. I would recommend the experience to any fan.
That said, I was probably one of the youngest in the group of 30-40ish people. Most were in the 50-70 yrs range. There were a few couples in their late 20's early 30's So, if you're looking to hang with a bunch of recent grads and whoop it up, this is not your scene.

September is that the historical peak...but that does not guarantee something. What the predictions square measure for this season do not mean a lot of, as we've got already had four named storms within the Atlantic basin up to now, which is new. Will the remainder of the season be as active? That is anybody's guess. And together with your trip a few month away, there's no thanks to forecast what the weather are going to be like with any degree of accuracy. There may well be a tropical storm or cyclone at that point, however it might even be 2000 miles away, that would not be a priority. Typically the weather in late July is hot and wet,, day temps within the low to middle 90's, heat index over a hundred. Daily a thirty to hr probability of thunderstorms, may rain for associate degree hour some, clear up, perhaps rain once more a couple of hours later. simply your typical crop up time of year storms. It will rain 2 inches at my house, however 2 miles away not a drop. Look at trip insurance, and thoroughly check the small print of your travel arrangements to , simply just in case you have got to cancel thanks to a storm, or need to cut the trip short. Trust me, if you're here, and a storm is approaching, there's many advance warning. conjointly the airlines square measure smart at adding additional flights and creating concessions to urge guests off the islands if a storm is returning this manner.
