Michigan continued its dominance over little brother on the baseball diamond today.

After a 6-3 win yesterday on the road, the series returned to Ann Arbor for the lone B1G meeting (there will be a non-conference game at home between the two teams later on this season).

Michigan wasted absolutely no time getting on the board.

1st inning, Jordan Brewer began the onslaught with a 2 out homer to put Michigan up 1-0. In the very next inning, Jimmy Kerr sent the ball over the RF wall to make it 2-0 Maize & Blue.

Michigan had a big 3rd inning as Brewer added another RBI to his total with a sac fly to make it 3-0. Miles Lewis then brought Brewer home with an RBI double to push it to 4-0 Michigan. Jimmy Kerr got his second home run in as many innings, a 2-run bomb to make it 6-0 Michigan after 3 innings.

MSU put up their only runs of the game in the 4th on a wild pitch and then an RBI to make it a 6-2 game but if they had any confidence it was about to be squashed.

Miles Lewis once again brought home Jordan Brewer with an RBI double. Jimmy Kerr stayed scorching hot and brought home Miles Lewis with a matching RBI double to make it 8-2 Michigan. Joe Donovan then cleared the bases: a 3-run homer to make this one a laugher. 11-2 Michigan after 5 innings.

Michigan continued to pound the Spartans with two runs in the 6th inning on ANOTHER Jimmy Kerr hit-- an RBI double to bring home Jordan Brewer. A wild pitch then allowed Kerr to score and make it 13-2 Michigan.

Two innings later in the 8th, Harrison Salter made it 14-2 Michigan with an RBI double. A Riley Bertram RBI groundout and a Jesse Franklin RBI single represented the final damage Michigan inflicted upon MSU.

Michigan wins a 16-2 bombardment of MSU.

Michigan is now 19-7 and 2-0 in the B1G.

4 home runs. 12 extra base hits. Bombs away. Jimmy Kerr's statline was an unreal 5-for-5 with 2 HRs, 5 RBI and 5 runs.

That's the 8th straight Michigan win over MSU. Michigan has clinched the weekend series and will go for the sweep tomorrow at 4pm on the road.

Michigan and Minnesota, who right now are the only 2 teams undefeated in Big Ten play, meet each other this upcoming weekend in Ann Arbor:  Friday at 4:00, Saturday at 2:00 and Sunday at 1:00.  This series will have a lot to do with deciding the Big Ten championship.

MSU's programs beyond basketball and a couple others are middling or outright suffering. They've spent the last decade plus only actively caring about the ones that make the front page of the Detroit papers. And it shows often in the results and the behavior they'll ignore in those big couple sports.

Have to admire like Stanford, Michigan, etc. Where there are the sacrifices and expectations for excellence in everything in the athletic department.
