Baseball Pitching Coach Chris Fetter to Detroit Tigers
Per Jon Morosi. Big loss for the program. Hope they can get someone else with his analytic chops. Best of luck in the MLB!
Sources: #Tigers hiring Chris Fetter as their pitching coach. Fetter, who played a key role in Michigan’s run to the 2019 CWS final, is regarded as a rising star in the industry. His teaching approach is ideally suited to Detroit’s group of young pitchers. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Devastated as a Michigan fan but cautiously optimistic as a tigers fan!

Feeling the same. Good get for the Tigers. He was apparently he's pretty highly thought of by a number of MLB teams.

As a Michigan fan it's too bad losing Fetter. He has a great reputation. He wasn't going to stay a college pitching coach much longer. As a Tigers fan this is very good news. Old school Ron Gardenhire and Rick Anderson were what was required to navigate a brutal rebuild. Now that its about making a promising group of prospects everything they can be management is shifting to new school teaching techniques. I'm becoming more optimistic that Al Avila may actually know what he is doing.

Coach Fetter.... welcome to the worst bullpen in the MLB.
Best of luck! Hope you can improve that mess.

Worst bullpen in the majors? They have some competition for that distinction. Check out the Phillies. Now that's a...

well in any given year it may not be the worst.... but it's been consistently bad enough that I think its in the running for the worst over the last say 10, 15 or 20 years.....
enter Todd "Cardiac" Jones
Joel "wild thing" Zumia
Jose "the big potato" Valverde
Joaquin "home run" Benoit
and there have been more.

That's a bummer for us. He's been a great asset.

Well shit.

Great hire. Big loss for Michigan but he was never gonna stay forever!

Oh, too bad.
As others have pointed out, he was going to be a MLB pitching coach at some point in the next few years--he interviewed with 2 or 3 teams last offseason, too. Hopefully Bakich can make a hire just as good for his replacement.

If he was going to go, and he was, I'm glad it was just a few miles down I-94.

Sad to see us losing him at Michigan but happy to see him helping us in Detroit.
Most of all, though, it's great that he's now at the Major League level in his professional career. Congratulations, Coach Fetter!

Damn, this is a huge loss for Bakich

A Michigan baseball post without the requisite #FireBakich? Unacceptable.
HA!
Great hire by the Tigers. Very excited for Fetter to work with the young pitchers on that roster.

Going to have to impose a self-ban on further postings for my oversight. Haha.

Great hire! Can't wait to see what he accomplishes with Skrubal, Manning, and Mize!
