And the Michigan offense was nominated for "The Most Potent Offense Which Has Yet to Score Much" award, which is of course awarded the "Brave Sir Robin" trophy donated by Eric Idle.

It's really sad to see the Michigan community we love talk shit about one of our own, especially in a thread about being nominated for something special.

Everyone here always says "Why can't we have nice things?!" Well, our starting QB was just nominated for an award by the actual people that get to decide whether or not he is worthy of said nomination. And, in turn, we rip the man apart.

Maybe we can't have nice things because we're collectively whiney assholes that are incapable of being thankful, supportive, or happy about anything. Negativity is contagious.

Congrats to Shea. I'm happy for him; he, along with his friends and family, must be really proud. I know I would be. Now negbang me.

I believe you can be results oriented as well as supportive of the players.

Shea is 14-4 thus far as a Michigan QB. He is a positive representation of the University and by all accounts a good teammate. The fact that some believe he hasn't exceeded their standards for on-field performance and therefore that warrants/justifies the vitriol...in a thread about him being named one of 20 nominees for an award...is flat out disappointing to see.

This fan base is insufferable as it relates to QBs.  You all must kick the dog when you come home from a bad day at work.  Pathetic.

Look at his output, QBR and other metrics.  I was just commenting that he doesn’t perform top 20 football. Just my opinion.  I hope he gets better.   In all honesty he would probably have been better off in another coaching staff.

Sad but true.  Last year he was on pace for all-time UM best QBR at ~160.  So far this year he is ~130 QBR (just average UM QBR).  Is this Shea regressing or the new offense?   Gattis needs to get less dogmatic to his scheme and adapt to his personnel.  My view is Gattis is a hard headed guy who needs to adjust his approach.  If not, we are doomed.

Whether or not Shea’s arm is good enough to win our upcoming games is open to debate, but we’ll find out soon enough. He certainly isn’t the sole cause of our offensive woes—there’s plenty of blame to spread around.

What isn’t up for debate is the fact that he has done literally nothing so far this year to warrant consideration for an award named after Johnny Unitas, one of the best QBs in NFL history.
