Any information on Early Entry, transfers, etc?

Submitted by ameed on
Here's a call to insiders, or just a thread to provoke more rabid debate: Anyone out there have new info or theories on the early entries, transfers, and un-renewed 5th years? Last I read B-Graham was filing the NFL advisory council to test the waters but publicly said he is coming back (meaning he will stay unless they tell him he gets big bucks), Butler was rumored to be leaving after this year as well on separate threads. Any updates on Transfers? Seems like we are due for a handful of people to bolt, and that would probably happen soon so they could move on. Anyone? Bueller?

I will be somewhat surprised if neither Carlos Brown or Kevin Grady transfers. Or maybe Brown should redshirt. I don't know, but it seems like kind of a waste to have all three of those guys run out of eligibility at the same time.

Really? It seems a little crazy for him to transfer, given that if he went to another D1 he would only get 1 more year, and he's got to consider that we're going to be throwing the ball downfield much better when Sheridan exits the lineup. He was the primary target this year, along with Odoms.

Your gut reaction may be correct, but given that he has only 1 year of eligibility, I find it possible he doesn't trust a sophomore Threet or a Freshman to get him the kind of catches and exposure needed to play on Sundays.

Basically everyone who wasn't recruited by RR is gonna bolt, and we are going to start fresh. But, like, oh well. We are bringing in a lot of solid players, and when they grow up, we'll be a machine.

If true, that's not really surprising. The players that RR wants are just completely different types of players, from both a talent and attitude perspective. Not saying that Michigan's previous players had a bad attitude or weren't talented, but rather that it's just attitude and different talent that RR is after. It's kind of interesting that no one ever brings up Ryan Mundy's perspective.

Also, there's no way all of those receivers leave. I could see some of them, but for everyone that leaves, there is a lower chance an addition one leaves, if that makes sense. If their gripe is that we don't throw enough to feature all those receivers, then the fewer good ones there are, the more likely you are to be featured.

Who has anyone talked to that is indicating these WRs are leaving? GM's transfering? For what? He's never going to be a #1 receiver except at a FCS school, and the passing game here is only going to get better. None of the true WRs would transfer for playing time, hell, outside WR is one of our biggest needs.

If anyone SHOULD transfer I think Clemons would be the one. Stonum and Mathews will still be on the ends, but clemons probably isn't going to get any time unless someone gets injured, or we go 5 wide. He also has a couple years of eligibility left, whereas Mathews only has 1.
