Any info on the Recruiting Weekend?

Sorry if this is premature, but with no bowl game to look to, recruiting has become my obsession. From the scout mainpage, apparently we have come to the top for Hankins the DT from Southeastern. Did we make any inroads with any other recruits? TomVH? Anybody?

Just letting you know I negged you because you posbanged yourself, which I really dont get; it seems pretty pathetic (for example, the poster formerly known as The Fifteenth did it every time he created a new thread, which was a lot).

here's my general take on how the rest of this recruiting season is going to pan out... #1) there's going to be a lot of slickness involved with this new rule. no one knows enough about it to predict what's going to happen. but i think that we should all expect a lot of gray-shirt-like business going on, especially with our less heralded recruits. #2) there are three spots left, and I think that we are going to get about five or six more commitments. ...wilson - don't ask my why, but i'm getting a ricky barnum like feeling. ...hankins/beachum/ash - i think hankins is in the bag, beachum still a strong possibility as well, ash, we'll know more soon. ...murphy/bryant - i've got the same ricky barnum like feeling with bryant. if he doesn't commit, then maybe we take both grimes and murphy. ...furman - i refuse to doubt sam webb. ...parker/knight/anderson - it seems like we're bound to get one of these guys, right? in order of likelihood there. ...grimes - he's ours. i think he's so ours that he'll come even without murphy. #3) if we sign six of those players, then we're three over, and we've got something to deal with. ...if we get one of those safties, vinopal is probably gets a gray-shirt (or something). ...if we get one of those ends, kinnard/paskorz is probably expendable, gray-shirted, whatever. ...if we get grimes, one of our lower ranked corners...witty/talbott/avery...is probably expendable, gray-shirtable, or perhaps williamson? #4) theres gonna be some snake oil fun and excitement along the way...but we're gonna end up with the best 25 guys we can get, that's for sure!

Just a couple of comments based on what I have read at GBW.com: parker/knight/anderson-probably NOT going to get any of these guys and if we do get one it would almost certainly be Knight. Witty would not get "bumped", the staff LOVES Witty and were VERY disappointed when he didn't qualify initially. The reports of his performance this past summer before he had to go back to Florida were very positive. There are three guys who are potential academic "casualties" (read: non-qualifiers), so there may not be any need to gray shirt or "Peace/Barnes" anyone.

Any idea who the non-qualifiers might be? I know about Kinard and Drake... I have a guess as to the other one, but I don't want to throw the kid under a bus if it's untrue. Witty is going to be a good player for us. I was disappointed when he didn't make it, too. I like him more than I liked Cissoko coming out of high school. I still think we'll get Knight, but Anderson and Parker have always been long shots.

I wasn't aware they had potential qualifying issues. I am also excited for Witty. His knee injury couldn't have come at a worse time for him in terms of his recruitment. I like to think he had high 3*/low 4* potential pre-injury. Hopefully a nice steal for us.

King Beaver of Scout may have done this inadvertently it could have been a Freudian (Schembechlerian?) slip, BUT He wrote in reply to some Scout moron that UM is currently at "25" commits right now. Hmmmm....sounds (as it were) like we have a couple silent commitments ala Mssrs. Grimes und Murphy?

I have heard that Grimes and Murphy are silent commits, but I just choose not to figure them into the total, since it's difficult to know for sure.
