I only skimmed through much of the comments on this thread, but I haven't noticed anyone point out the distinction between a corporate entity vs. an individual donation. I'm not a big fan of the branding and some other changes made by DB, but this doesn't bother me at all. It's not like he's the Domino's Pizza Offensive Coordinator. This donor isn't trying to sell anything, just get recognition, and I see it as no different than an endowed fellowship or professorship.
I share your same sentiments. If someone wants to donate THEIR OWN MONEY to a university for whatever means they choose, who am I (or we) to comment negatively about. I think its only just, that if you donate million$ of bucks you get some sort of recognition. I shake my head at all the DB bashing on here. The man doesn't need the money, left a million dollar corporate career to take a thankless AD job at his alma mater out of pure passion, and he gets ripped in blogs daily. I'm greatful he took the job, but thats just my personal opinion.
If I donate $11 can I have a cupholder in one of the luxury suites named after me? Or maybe a towel boy?
Good?
I just want the schedule to not be an abomination and for the football team to be competitive against our real bench marks (OSU, MSU, top 25, bowl games). It hasn't consistently been that way for 10 years; 2006 was the only season during that span when the team was truly good. God, dammit... I don't see how these endowments do anything whatsoever to improve my experience as a fan of Michigan football so I'm not impressed. In fact, I can only think of 1 thing Brandon has done that fits the bill: night games. How hard was that to figure out?
